@mathisfun: thanks a lot. I can't afford Flash, so that was keeping me from learning Flash/AS. I never found a good free editor either. Thanks.

44 digits? Quite impressive. You may break my record soon! smile Currently, the most I have been able to recite together are 73 - and I am 1 year older then you! I really need to get memorizing more - one year can memorize 100 digits.

There is another very simple way (which I think is easiest)to do this (it's almost the same as bobbym's - but no integers).
Psuedo

1. Since we know that both fraction's numerator's are not greater then the denominator, we can tell that both fractions are not one whole yet.
2. So then simply subtract the fraction with the highest numerator by the other one. To do so:
1. Find a common denominator: 44. 11*4 and 4*11.
2. Multiply the numerators by the number you multipled the denominators by to get 44: 3*11=33 and 9*4=36.
End
3. Then take out the denominators and just check which numerator is great. In this case it's 36, so 9/11 is greater. So it's closes to one whole.

Otherwise, I suggest that the best way is using a calculator.

A mathematician is flying non-stop from Edmonton to Frankfurt with AirTransat. The scheduled flying time is nine hours.
Some time after taking off, the pilot announces that one engine had to be turned off due to mechanical failure: "Don't worry - we're safe. The only noticeable effect this will have for us is that our total flying time will be ten hours instead of nine."
A few hours into the flight, the pilot informs the passengers that another engine had to be turned off due to mechanical failure: "But don't worry - we're still safe. Only our flying time will go up to twelve hours."
Some time later, a third engine fails and has to be turned off. But the pilot reassures the passengers: "Don't worry - even with one engine, we're still perfectly safe. It just means that it will take sixteen hours total for this plane to arrive in Frankfurt."
The mathematician remarks to his fellow passengers: "If the last engine breaks down, too, then we'll be in the air for twenty-four hours altogether!"

A mathematician and a Wall street broker went to the races. The broker suggested they bet $10,000 on a horse. The mathematician was skeptical, saying that he wanted first to understand the rules, to look on horses, etc. The broker whispered that he knew a secret algorithm for the success, but he could not convince the mathematician.

"You are too theoretical," the broker said and bet on a horse. Sure enough, that horse came first, winning him a lot of money.

Triumphantly, he exclaimed: "I told you, I knew the secret!"

"What is your secret?" the mathematician asked.

"It is rather easy. I have two kids, three and five years old. I sum up their ages and I bet on number nine."

"But, three and five is eight," the mathematician protested.

"I told you, you are too theoretical!" the broker replied, "Haven't I just shown experimentally, that my calculation is correct! 3 + 5 = 9!"
Note: I do not take credit for the joke(s). This is published from another site.

Hello everyone. My name is Shivam and I am a student at the moment. I am fairly young (not even in eight grade), but I have been doing math and science far beyond my level. I am pretty skilled in programming as well.  I plan on studying single-variable calculus soon.  I hope to increase my knowledge a lot here and to help out many people - as long as the questions are matching with the knowledge I have attained so far. smile
