hi Calligar

just tell me the difference between 0.3 reccuring and 0.3 reccuring? then i will accept almost anything you say (not really but anyway,...).

also,an infinitesimal is just a term, but none can really be found.you cannot find any numbers greater than zero that are less than any other number.

1/infinity is not defined!

here's how you solve it:

if you got the answer from a book then it is probably wrong,or you just looked at the wrong answer. smile

hi SmelyMan

is this what you want:

if it is then wolfram is right!

hi

yes,yes they are.

that's the one i am talking about.

hi MIF

nice pages!!!

i like the jokes on the cross product page but the second one i don't understand very much. smile

anyway,keep on the good work!

#9810 Re: Help Me ! » 3.3333333 + 6.66666666 » 2011-10-07 22:50:27

hi rya

yes that is correct, but my point is that we have multiple ways of representing the same number.

it's just that Monty Hall gets rid of the door that has a goat!

here is a link that explains the whole thing a little better:Monty Hall Problem

#9812 Re: Help Me ! » 3.3333333 + 6.66666666 » 2011-10-07 05:59:36

hi guys

i found this topic on wikipedia, and it has some pretty good arguments.

look at it this way: 0,5 is just another way of representing 1/2,and by the same logic 0,3333... recurring is just another way of representing as 1/3.

there's one here that says bobbyrq69.is that you?

#9816 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-07 02:11:53

how do you mean calculate.it is a brute-force algorithm, nothing is calculated.

#9817 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-07 02:08:05

well,i don't know if i will get to it very fast.when it finds a number that can be in a box it moves the next empty box,and tries values for it,and again and again until it all fills up or it finds a box that no number can go into.in the second case it goes to the square it filled up before the one where 'no number can stand' and it tries the next possible value.

i do have the final answer.i got the example from a Sudoku book.it has solutions in the back.

#9820 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-07 01:54:46

i think i don't understand what you mean...actually i know i don't understand what you mean.

#9821 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-07 01:45:42

hi

all rows are obviously wrong, which means that the columns and squares are obviously wrong.don't you think i already know that?isn't it obvious.i told you that there is  problem around nines.

nah,i want it to put out a random matrix that will have the elements that i have put in but that it has a lot of nines...of course i do.that's why it is called Sudoku_solver. smile

#9822 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-07 01:36:24

hi bobbym

i had to go to sleep sleep

for example if i put in:
0 2 0 0 0 9 1 4 6
9 0 6 8 0 0 0 0 2
0 5 0 6 0 0 9 0 0
0 0 0 4 9 0 7 0 0
0 0 5 7 6 8 4 0 0
0 0 3 0 2 1 0 0 0
0 0 8 0 0 4 0 9 0
7 0 0 0 0 5 2 0 4
2 4 1 9 0 0 0 3 0

it puts out:
8 2 9 9 9 9 1 4 6
9 1 6 8 4 9 9 9 2
3 5 4 6 1 2 9 7 8
6 9 9 4 9 9 7 9 9
9 9 5 7 6 8 4 1 3
4 7 3 5 2 1 8 9 9
5 6 8 9 9 4 9 9 9
7 9 9 1 3 5 2 6 4
2 4 1 9 8 9 9 3 9

#9823 Re: Puzzles and Games » find sum » 2011-10-07 01:10:41

the next element is 312211

#9824 Re: Coder's Corner » Another programming problem!!! » 2011-10-06 05:57:43

i tested the first few elements, but this problem seems like it's something to do with nines.

i tried it.but there's too much to go until the first mistake.

'Put some write statements in there.' - why?

'indices' - what?

'And for heavens sake please learn how to use the debugger.' - if by that you mean using 'step into' and watches then i do.
