Very few marks are awarded in Math Olympaids for correct answers alone. In order to receive substantial credit on any question, you must carefully explain all your reasoning. Answers that are merely aserted without justification will receive no marks at all! Good Luck! [This is my first quiz post!]

Indeed. However so few members are active. Could we counteract it with ads at least a bit?

There used to be ads on the old forum... I believe MIF doesn't even have time to think about adding in a n ads system on this forum! Yikes! There used to be more active members once upon a time... sad

MIF is too busy. We need to send in a "petition".

Isaiah 6 - A Vision of God in the Temple

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” And he said, “Go and say to this people:

‘Keep listening, but do not comprehend;
keep looking, but do not understand.’
Make the mind of this people dull,
    and stop their ears,
    and shut their eyes,
so that they may not look with their eyes,
    and listen with their ears,
and comprehend with their minds,
    and turn and be healed.”
Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said:
“Until cities lie waste
    without inhabitant,
and houses without people,
    and the land is utterly desolate;
until the Lord sends everyone far away,
    and vast is the emptiness in the midst of the land.
Even if a tenth part remain in it,
    it will be burned again,
like a terebinth or an oak
    whose stump remains standing
    when it is felled.”
The holy seed is its stump.

Hi David;

How have you been?

I'm doing good. My exam starts tomorrow o.O

I had been walking with God, that's why I'm absent. During my walk, I saw many false and prideful believers. I saw fake churches not after God but after material things. And ultimately, I learned one thing from all those "man churches". "No church is perfect" they argued, but "Is it even a church at all"? And what I learned from the people who are lost, they reject the truth, not because they are not convinced, but because they love darkness rather than light; because their works are evil. They love what God hates and reject God and His truth because they hate everything God is and everything God represents. They reject God not because of not being convinced, but because they do not want to change and rather continue to love their sin.

It isn't. Only God can tell you what he wants.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

珠心算 is the art of using abacus while calculating...
心算 is the art of calculating numbers your head without writing it down... (You count in your "heart")

An abacus is like the paper and the pencil combined together...

They use it to keep track of things. This is interesting... If you can read mandarin. http://baike.baidu.com/view/666642.htm

When I was in Chinese school, we started memorizing the timetable up to 12 x 12 at a very young age. If I remember correctly, the abacus is not meant to be used as a "calculator"... It lets you keep track of things.

I can answer you this: A lot of things exists, we just don't know about them. So... It is technically not a "new planet".
