Zach is just like that ...

... if you haven't been insulted by Zach, you are not really a member ... so welcome *officially* !

"wrapped in clouds" is my favourite

Well, we had fun trying. But this one is headed for the circular file.

I hope random_blonde can tell us what her teacher reckons the answer is.

Probably involves standing a 6 on its head smile

And what you wrote in code, Zach, is called an "infinite loop" (though no such loop has ever gone on for infinity, at least not as fas as I know! smile )

Exactly ... we are happy to make it better, but you gotta tell us HOW.

#6431 Re: This is Cool » One divided by Infinity » 2005-05-29 21:47:06

Only if Infinity=2 ... it don't

#6432 Re: This is Cool » One divided by Infinity » 2005-05-29 21:39:32

Inifinity. A number SO BIG that you can't ever reach it.

Some people say it is the number that is equal to the largest number you can think of plus one.

So, we know what 1/10 is, we know what 1/100 is, we know what 1/1,000,000,000 is (one billionth), but what is 1/Infinity?

So impressed with both solutions ... !

And I thought we were just being teased.

I might add this one to our "official" puzzle list smile

Hi, mathsyperson. Good to have you on board.

Whooo hoooo ....

Thank you !

#6438 Re: Help Me ! » Puzzles - Aren't they Great! BLAH » 2005-05-28 18:14:35

Doesn't matter. A puzzle is a puzzle.

And this one is tough.

I have tried fibonacci, primes (only 487 is prime), powers, multiplication, and they all have random results.

I am thinking either
a) you can never guess the two numbers but you can guess their product, or
b) it needs to be decoded somehow (words, letters or something)

I tried dozens of combinations and none of them work ... it may be impossible to do following those instructions!

#6441 Re: Guestbook » hi » 2005-05-28 11:17:43

Great, hope you enjoy!

#6442 Re: Help Me ! » Can u find the word? » 2005-05-28 11:14:33

That's good, cool_me ... I never knew that education so neatly included the vowels.

I will have to remember that!

Some opinions are they the same ...

... or else "opinion surveys" wouldn't work.

Right?

#6445 Re: Guestbook » games » 2005-05-27 18:19:35

Yes sir, ma'am!

Like what?

#6446 Re: Help Me ! » Puzzling Puzzle » 2005-05-27 18:10:14

"what is the number of prime numbers between one and a million that become a perfect square if you add 1 to them?"

Surely the number 3 qualifies ... add 1 you get 4 which is 2*2

So the answer is 1, isn't it?

I guess because Life is Like a Box of Chocolates *feather floats past*
