MIF has a website for science called ScienceHQ
Are you bored of real doors? Just having to open and walk through them all the time?
I'm waiting for the time when I can walk through walls.
Under a section in this forum such as Help Me, Members only, Exercises and so on, you see under that written as "moderated by ---" . Such as In Help me, you will see, moderated by Ricky, bob bundy, ganesh, mathsyperson. May I know what is that?
Different moderators and administrators are assigned to moderate threads within a specific section.
is it possible to change my username to something more appropriate for my math studies ?
Unfortunately, no. bobbym, used to do that. But he's not with us anymore.
Please give all answers
Can't see the questions clearly.
An advise:
Math isn't about the answer, it is about how you get to the answer (many ways).
For competitions like Kangaroo Math, you are not allowed to use calculators, think out of the box.
Hi. My name is Aditya. I am a 13-year old boy studying currently in class 8. I am just mad about maths and love it very much.
And yeah can anyone tell me the difference between member, real member, guest, moderator and administrator in this forum.
Hi;
I started here when I was about 13ish.
Welcome to the Forum!
What I would suggest is ask David's question to one person. You would come to know whether he is knight or knave. then you ask him to list who are the knights. Two questions are enough.
Wow. Nice
Can you ask the same person more than once?
Exactly, I was thinking about that.
David wrote:The minimum number of yes-no questions that he must ask the inhabitants is 9. (5-yes 4-no/ 5-no 4-yes) At 9, there's enough information to find out the 5 naves.
To be precise,
The minimumof minimum number of yes-no questions that he must ask the inhabitants is 5.
The maximumof minimum number of yes-no questions that he must ask the inhabitants is 9.
But the question doesn't specify.
On a fictional island there are 10 inhabitants, who all know each other, of which 5 are knights, who always tell the truth and the rest of them are knaves, who always lie.
A visitor to the island wants to determine the 5 knaves. What is the minimum number of yes-no questions he must ask the inhabitants in order to find the 5 knaves?
Knights always tell the truth, knaves always lie. Ask them a fact question. => Do you live on an Island?
Knights will always tell the truth, hence, they will all say yes.
Knaves always lie, hence, they will all say no.
The minimum number of yes-no questions that he must ask the inhabitants is 9. (5-yes 4-no/ 5-no 4-yes) At 9, there's enough information to find out the 5 naves.
So
I have a project for my algebra 2 class and I do not know how to do it. It is make a "quadratics for dummies" article. You see I am the "dummy" in this scenario and how is the "dummy" supposed to make a article for the "dummy"? Its all rather demeaning you know. Anyways the specifics of the project are that
A. I have to create an article simplifying the directions for analyzing and solving quadratic functions taking into account complex numbers.
B. Formulate a theory for predicting when each of the described methods should be used for each particular function (I think the three ways are completing the square, factoring, and using the quadratic formula).
C. Create a graphic organizer such as a flow chart or a flow map to show your recommendations. If anyone could help me with this I would be ecstatic. Really!
Any help would be appreciated.
Hello Todd,
I'll advise you to first sign up for an account here, as guest can't reply to threads.
Can you give us the specific tasks that you need to do?
I did not want those over there seeing it.
smart move.

I like how you censored A*rt of Pro--blem So..lving
But it seems that, for the members and moderators of this forum, they have mostly moved on with their lives, rather than migrating to AOPs, SE, MO, etc.
Some might have moved on to afterlife... oops...
I think my interpretation I already gave to Agnishom but now I can not find it.
My interpretation is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M76LuF8icDE

Hi;
Welcome back to the forum.
So guys, let me get this straight.
I'm trying to be active in this forum as much as possible, but schoolwork seems to prevent this.
It's now our break, so I have LOTS of time to see how the forum's been doing while I was away.
So yeah, hello!
Hello!! I have 2 weeks left for my final exam. Then I'm free! Yay! Welcome back!
Thank you all !!!!!
Are you from Sri Lanka? Your name sounds familiar.
Hello,
I don't know if there are other italian users, I'm here because Italian Math Forums are really boring because of their inactivity. I'm really young (fifteen) but I have a great passion for math and I really like to solve hard problems and puzzles. I'm sorry if my English isn't perfectly correct , but I'll do my best.
Hi;
Welcome to the forum!
We have some users of Sicilian ancestry.
I have over 3000 posts... And I had been a guest before I joined... Am I not real enough? MIF is probably too busy
Swamp, swamp and more swamp.
19 What is good about living in Sunshine State?
That is a long and difficult answer. To go into it I would have to rant for about 30 minutes. It is Sunday, a day of rest, the Sabbath, a day without rants.
Sabbath is Saturday!
