Actually, that'll be my next goal.

making one while recording and saving the Action.

Something more rawly mathematic.

It may take me a few months.  it's not like i make these everyday ...

Thanks.

Well, in terms of worktime ... the second to last one I did most recently and took about an hour of tweeking.  Some have taken me 8-12 hours total. Others present themselves in under a half hour.  It's very much trial and error, which often leads to mixed results.

In terms of posting formulas, I guess I could record the history from start to finish, save  and post it as an .ATN file.  But that would mean making sure all the changes made were Action recordable.  Plus it's kind of a trade secret.  HA!  No, really ... it's more art than math.

I've rarely start with or at any point add a photo or graphic image not generated from scratch in photoshop, occasionally a converted .WAV file.  (as currently posted; one wave file, one started as a photo) But mostly it's taking noise and making shapes and obscuring those shapes, all the while trying to make it look recognizable.

Ricky, thanks but I know ... right click, open in new window or tab or copy link location ... OR keep clicking on links ... try repeatedly clicking the ART link (it may be camouflaged) ... that's why I didn't redirect the target.  An attempt at creative HTML code.  All written in notepad.

If anyone has some good fractal or digital art links, please share them with us here.

"pictures of clouds"
You got it!
Then i take a picture of photoshop and evaporate the print using a kiln, to turn photoshop into clouds.  I also use a spray bottle, to add a little moisture. ... you know, so it'll rain.
But's thats just practice.

I'll be sure to post a link to the site when it's up ... within a few weeks.

He's got a program doing all the number logic for him and sometimes he inputs the wrong numbers.  Always copy/paste mathsy!

There's a problem ... make a program that gives guesses, well, logical guesses based on past ones.

In the meanwhile, I'm thinking of a number between 1023 and 9876 ... without repeating any digit.  Using ten-sided number generators, if that helps.

Mandelbrot eh?  If you're talking about fractals;

Creating chaos with order.

A few years back, I figured out a way to make fractals using photoshop.
Ever since I've been making digital art and hope to have a gallery quality website up before new years.

as in taste buds
Now if you want to reorder language, that's your perogative.
Forget Webster.

#8 Re: This is Cool » Philosophy of math » 2005-12-09 04:17:17

regardless,

Significance of numbers and mathematics:

Instead of an apple being just an apple, it becomes 1 apple.
To trade 1 apple for 1 banana ... 3 for 3 ... a dozen for a dozen.
Rather than, "all of what I have for all of what you have".
Which may seem balanced without numbers.
(and that's all ignoring quality ... before even getting to the market)

To cook:
"set it and forget it" rather than the art of BBQ

In manufacturing:
Interchangable parts instead of "eye-balling" each component to size or custom fit.

Maths eliminates guess work.  (well, sometimes it is guess work ... or best-option work)
It simplifies into a repeatable process.

Seeing that mathematics is a language, used to read reality ... Math, being an expandable application, can account for items within it's own level of calculability ... The further we advance the art of numbers, the more we could say that whatever we apply that math to is, by extension,  mathematics.

What counterproof?

Your definitions seem bitter.

Would you have us, interpret ohaos from crder then?

Is there even a difference for you?

#10 Re: This is Cool » One divided by Infinity » 2005-12-09 01:57:20

would that also apply to lions?
Because it might not be wise to wake a sleeping lion ... especially if he knows something.
or bears or dinosaurs ... though i'm not sure what a terrible thunder lizard would know ... how to be terrible, i suppose.  in which case, definitely don't wake him!

Bonus points go to the file clerk then?

Guess 8: 9702 (BBBB)
Well played mathsyperson

If you notice the previous two games:

CowBull1= 2364
CowBull2= 5821

all unused numbers, in descending order ...
becuase ascending is precluded by the rule: "the first is always non-zero"
which gives 970
and then using opposite reasoning to balance the non-randomness of my selection ...
the only shared value
which is 2
which leads to 9702

So if somehow someone was thinking along the same lines, the probability of it taking only one guess increased.  And to think, I was going to be boring and use 4d10 ... let's take this game up a notch shall we?

Cow Bull 3:

Guess 1: 2468 (c)
Guess 2: 1234 (c)
Guess 3: 4579 (cc)
Guess 4: 5387 (c)
Guess 5: 6195 (c)
Guess 6: 7902 (BBcc)
Guess 7 : 7920 (cccc)

( 'c' for each cow, 'B' for each bull; arranged in alphabetical order )

A feeble attempt to counterpoint "Debating is good".

Maybe the only real counterpoint is:

I agree.

#19 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Cow Bull 1 » 2005-12-06 14:53:29

as luck may have it ...

Guess 6: 7902 (BBcc)

Would liquid in a plastic bottle freeze first or an aluminum can or what about glass?

Did they still have glass bottled soda "Last month"?

#24 Re: This is Cool » One divided by Infinity » 2005-12-06 05:16:17

Ah, imagination ...

Where is it you imagine the limits of imagination are?
Until the moment we perceive directly the borders of conceivabilty, thoughts are limitless.

While we tend to be bound to processing information based on our experiences and observations, the function of combining and reconstituting those ideas is limited only from times relentless march.

However, with time ... change allows us to output our theories and gives us oppurtunity to have new, yet unseen discoveries.  Allowing fresh insight and renewed input for our contemplations.

Debating on the other hand, gets us nowhere.  Unless people listen to each other.  But that's where advantage comes into play, right? ... providing people talk (any amount greater than zero) ...

who's listening?
who's got plugs in their ears?
who's yelling?
who's whispering?
who's following?
who's leading?

Think about "SMELL!" (yell that and see how many sniffs you get) ...
even odors compete ... bacon versus roses ... that's about as far as my sense of smell goes.  what's the relevance?  I would argue a sense of smell is not important.  Then again, I could walk into a gas filled room, notice nothing and pass out before I caught on.  My limited smell recptors acclimatizing to the change in chemical surroundings without raising significant alarm.

*yawn*

∞  &  1/∞
Are the limits of numbers.
Being that they are limitless, they function as directional coordinates.
Constants.
