I joined this website 9 years ago, and time surely flies! I just graduated with a Math degree, and now am a math tutor in my country.

Really glad to be back at mathisfun. It is a nice website that has withstood the test of time!

The first problem is essentially 5 times the harmonic series, hence, if the harmonic series diverges, so does the first series. smile

oh its actually because using
(the hint is try on x, x^2, and x^3 first and guess for 2009)
we obtain
9, 18, 27 respectively, suggesting that the number is the 2009th multiple of 9

thanks a lot bobbym
i tried using Maple software in my school, and working on the hint, I suspect the answer is 2009x3=18081.

(the hint is try on x, x^2, and x^3 first and guess for 2009)
By the way, which program did u use to test up to f^50?

Hi, can anyone help to solve this very challenging problem?

(needs computer help on this)

I tried using many programs but all failed..

the small number (2) is a hint to try x, x^2, and x^3 first and guess the pattern

I recommend this excellent book on relativity and light, including an essay titled "What happens if the speed of light slows down to 3000 m/s."

A must for aspiring physicists and mathematicians! Beginners can also read the book as it is self explanatory and easy to understand.

Please support me and my new book "25 Tips to Beat Anxiety and Depression"!

You can buy this book at amazon.com (search for ISBN 1-4116-5666-0) if you are living in the US.

Otherwise, you can buy it from lulu.com. (Search for the title or the author, william wu)

Here is an excerpt of the book:

Description: Studies have shown that approximately one in five adults will suffer from some form of depression or anxiety in their lifetime. This book will focus on non-conventional approaches to solve depression and anxiety, such as using herbal therapies like St John's Wort, 5-HTP, SAM-e, and Valerian Root. Changes to lifestyle and food habits will also be discussed. Professional psychiatrists and psychologists are unlikely to write such a book, so a book by a patient suffering from Anxiety and Depression is ideal, and perhaps the only way. The book will focus on many alternative approaches to help anxiety and depression, other than medication, which can be costly and have many side effects that are not well tolerated. In Singapore, currently there are not many local books on anxiety and depression, which are the two most common psychological disorders, and even fewer on alternative treatments. Good luck in battling anxiety and depression!

This book only costs $10!! Please support me, a faithful member of mathsisfun, and buy this excellent book!

Trust me, you will not waste your money!
