Re: Area problems Please Help!!

No, It would be y - 6 = (1/3)x - 4/3. But that is not what I had in mind. Look at post # 274.

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

oh okay so its easier to work with the whole numbers, huh?Wow, that one wasn't as bad as the last one! We don't need to simplify anymore, right?

Question: Are more steps required if they don't give us both points? Because I have some where they give us one point and the slope.

No, just do it the same way.

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

oh okay.

So if its: (5, 5), m = 3

Then we do: y - 5 = 3 (x-5)? Just like that?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

That's correct, it is even easier than the other type.

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Okay so we add the 3 to the both, or get rid of the 5's?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

For this one we just expand:

y - 5 = 3 (x-5)

y - 5 = 3x  - 15 add 5 to both sides.

y = 3x - 10

y = 3x - 10

3x - y = 10 you are done

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

I hope not. Did you understand the gist of what we are doing here? Perhaps we can go over some fractions and how they are algebraically manipulated?
