Yes, I see. If the month numbers there are for the end of the month, I have assumed that the rabbits don't reproduce in the first month. So, do the rabbits reproduce in the first month?

EDIT: Actually, I suppose they would. I think you're right. Ganesh even said the number of pairs at the start, didn't he? big_smile

#177 Re: Puzzles and Games » rabbit farm » 2007-03-17 12:32:39

Haha, I can't add properly! I actually got 178 too.

Oops, my bad! big_smile

What I think:

month a j b t
 1) 1 1
 2) 1 1 2
 3) 1 1 1 3
 4) 2 1 2 5
 5) 3 2 3 8
 6) 5 3 5 13
 7) 8 5 8 21
 8) 13 8 13 34
 9) 21 13 21 55
10) 34 21 34 89

With the letters representing the same things as Jane's, in pairs. And 't' being the total number of pairs.

Ohh right! That makes a lot of sense! Happy St Pat's Day.

#180 Re: Jokes » criss cross » 2007-03-17 10:53:47

As a random guess I pick McGaughen, because you said your second name is 'strange'.

Jane, it could be McCague, but that doesn't fit the pattern ...

#182 Re: Jokes » criss cross » 2007-03-17 10:28:29

If you've crossed out every second letter, how did you get from 'Tommy' to 'omy'?

Wouldn't be 'om' or 'Tmy' instead?

#184 Re: Puzzles and Games » Railfence cipher code » 2007-03-16 23:00:28

That's the funniest thing, rida. And it was lightning who cracked the code!

The best bit was that it was Devante actually 'found' his own hidden meaning in it!

I can't stop smiling.

Heh ... why did you say 'welcome'? You even said yourself:

Come: move toward, travel toward something or somebody or approach something or somebody; "He came singing down the road"; "Come with me to the Casbah"; "come down here!"; "come out of the closet!"; "come into the room".

Go: move away from a place into another direction; "Go away before I start to cry"; "The train departs at noon".

?

Okay, this is one and a half months old ... if you're going to bring back old posts, it may be better if you actually say something interesting or make a point. But, whatever.

#190 Re: Puzzles and Games » the quote game » 2007-03-13 22:40:53

Okay, this is getting kind of pointless ... and this isn't really a puzzle.

Lock or not to lock?

So who likes Vegemite sandwiches? I don't.

#194 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Originality. » 2007-03-12 19:21:00

I have often had the same thoughts as you, Toast, about music. Will a composer or artist find it harder and harder to compose or create innovative pieces as we move through time? But we've been going for this long already ... I suppose people will keep thinking of new combinations. There an infinite number of ways you arrange musical notes on a page ...

Well, what about the internet? Has everything already been thought out? Will there be so many maths forums in the future that they'll all be the same?

#195 Re: Maths Is Fun - Suggestions and Comments » forum for artists? » 2007-03-12 19:11:20

Devarnt, hey?

Okay. Well I think mentally I've been saying it, 'Dev-arnt-ay'. I had no idea how to say the accent so I kind of made it up myself.

#196 Re: Puzzles and Games » the quote game » 2007-03-12 19:05:03

The thing is ... the maximum amount of posts embedded in each other is three. So you will never get your 'long quote' ...

If you type more than three, the outer-most three are kept and the rest are removed automatically, I think.

#197 Re: Maths Is Fun - Suggestions and Comments » forum for artists? » 2007-03-12 18:50:22

Okay ... so I'm not seeing things! Phew!

So, does the accent make a difference in pronunciation or meaning or anything else? Any reason for the change? big_smile

Devante wrote:

Actually the accent is the other way round (è).

I swear that used to be the other way round. Like, it used to be Devanté, not Devantè. At least, that's what I have been typing all along ... and mostly everyone else too.

So, did you change it ... or am I going crazy? big_smile

Well done shelby, you can put smilies in your in post! And look at that marvelous use of the code and quote tags.

Anyway, welcome to Maths Is Fun Forum.
