10. What is the total grazing area the goat can reach?

#54 Re: Help Me ! » Area of Squares » 2015-08-06 04:08:35

Q6
3/4 of the area

3/4 * 50^2 * pi= 1875 PI

Q7
1/4*30^2*PI

1/4*900*PI

225(PI)=706.858

Q8
1/4*30^2*PI

1/4*900*PI

225(PI)= 706.858

Q9
3/4*10^2*PI

3/4*100*PI

75(PI)

area 75, looks like it almost makes a square shape.

My teacher is just waiting for question 10... I keep getting it wrong.

Q10

I sent
3/4+1/4=4/4

50^2+30^2=80^2

4/4*80^2*PI= 6400 PI

and she said I am not following your work here fully explain
so please help me

I have a pizza. The radius is 10 inches long. The pizza was cut into 16 equal slices. When 1 slice was left, my sister and I both wanted it, so we agreed to cut it in half, but I like the crust more than she does, so we decided to cut it the "other way." In other words, the two pieces would not be symmetrical. The inside piece would contain all topping, and the outer piece would contain some topping and some crust.

1. Find the area of the whole pizza.

2. What is the area of one piece of pizza?

3. What is the area of a half-piece?

4. What would the area of the whole pizza be if it were made of half pieces?

5. What is the radius of a half-piece? (ie, where do I need to cut to make two equal halves out of a piece?)

f there is a goat tied to a rectangular barn on a 50 foot lead and the barn is 20 feet by 20 feet (floor), what is the maximum grazing area? If there are regions you can't find the area of, provide as good an estimate as you can. Assume the goat is tied to a corner outside the barn, cannot get in, and that the barn is not grazing area. (Remember, this will be based on parts of circles, no other shapes...the goat's rope will only get shorter when he tries to go around the barn...)

10. What is the total grazing area the goat can reach?

This is what my teacher said...

#1-4  We measure length in inches.  But, we don't measure area in inches.  Area requires squared units.

#5  We don't have a triangle here . . . we have a circle sector.   I suggest that you use the formula for area of a circle, and solve for the radius of a half-pizza.

#10  Your work doesn't indicate what is being done with "75."  Also, what is your unit of measure?

Find the area of the whole pizza.
a=(pi)(10^2), =314
2. What is the area of one piece of pizza?
(pi)(r^2)/16, 100(pi)/16=19.6
3. What is the area of a half-piece?
100(pi)/36=10
4. What would the area of the whole pizza be if it were made of half pieces?
a=10(pi), a=100/10, a=10
5. What is the radius of a half-piece? (ie, where do I need to cut to make two equal halves out of a piece?)
x=7.158

Pythagorean Theorem
a^2+b^2=c^2

a=6
c=6(SQRT2)

6^2+b^2=6(SQRT2)
36+b^2=6*SQRT2

I am having trouble because 6(SQRT2)=8.5

the answers are all whole numbers so please help

19. a=6 and c=6(SQRT 2)

Ab= 13
Bb= 15
C b= 8
Db= 6
E b= 19
F b= 2

I've done it multiple times and i cant get the correct answer.
6^2+b^2=6SQRT2

6*SQRT 2=8.5

36+b^2=8.5

b=SQRT 73

The answer is D.
