Thanks a lot, bobbym.
It is done by MIF.
Oh cool. What's the difference? What should I look out for at either of them?
Just in case you're wondering, I'm tuotring a first grader and would really appreciate some fun math resources.
I'm a UK teacher (retired).
Dear Bob, if you do not mind my asking, why did you retire from teaching?
Hi, for those students who find mathematics as a difficult course in high schools,
I decided to develop a site http://www.passmathsng.com/, an online question-solution to mathematics for
students in high schools.
Is the above mentioned website only suited/structured for West African students? Because I saw Jamb and waec over there?
Okay, have you seen Mathopolis?
http://www.mathopolis.com/questions/index.php
Can you do those?
Hi bobbym,
I checked out this website you mentioned. It looks very much like www.mathisfun.com, especially the home page. Is it a subsidiary?
Hey! I am a member there even long before I joined this site! big_smile
Didn't expect that MIF was actually older than MMF, though.
I'm confused. Are you saying or not that MIF is older? Welll, I know MIF to be over ten years old.
I wish to announce the creation of http://www.mymathforum.com featuring various forums dedicated to mathematics.
Why does the above website look so much like www.mathisfunforum.com? The colours, page layout, fonts.... Is it a subsidiary of MIF or just someone else trying to plagiarize?
I noticed the link had gone off, but as I was interested, I searched for it. I've seen that one too just now. Thanks phrontister.
Thanks so much guys. I also had the strong conviction even before posting here that no money had gone missing. It was an argument between my Mum and sister; they didn't agree with me when I explained as above. My Mum, knowing my ties with MIFF asked me to put it up here. She'll only believe what is said here. Thanks, now I'm vindicated.
You see, Math is for everyone, but was not made for everyone.
A shirt costs $ 97.00 but you have
no cash, so you borrow $50 from your
Mum and $50 from your Dad and you now
have $100. After buying the
shirt for $ 97.00, you have $ 3.00
left. You return $1.00 to your Dad and $ 1.00 to your Mum and $1.00 for yourself. Now you owe your mum $49 and your
Dad $49 so 49+49=98 plus the $1
with u is $99.
WHERE IS THE
MISSING $1.00?
What's the answer?
I have something in mind. I only want to verify because there seems to be an argument here. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
A pipe of wire of lenght Lcm is bent into the shape of a rectangle. The area enclosed by the rectangle is 7.5cm squared.
i. If the length of the side of the rectangle is xcm, find an expression of L in terms of x.
Help please. Thanks
Hello Bob;
I realise in your diagram that triangle PQT is right-angled; but this is quite impossible, considering the figures we have there (20, 18, 12). In a similar diagram I tried, I have the sides PT and SR slanted; not perpendicular to line QTR as above. Could you consider that too? Could it be that?
Oh ok.
Interesting. Part c is correct, but not the others? I thought part c also depends on parts a and b.
Hi Bob;
Thanks for reply.
Here are my answers. Please verify whether I'm right or wrong. Thanks.
(a) 72.5 degrees
(b) 19.1 cm
(c) 66.7 %
Hi. I can't seem to find my way round this question, especially the (a) part; yet , I need it to answer the other sub questions. I'd app some assistance. Thanks.
In a diagram, PS//QR, PT//SR, |QR| = 24 cm, |SR| = |PT| = 18 cm, |PQ| = 20 cm and |PS| = 12 cm. Calculate, correct to 3 significant figures;
(a) angle PQT;
(b) the height of triangle PQT;
(c) the area of PTRS as a percentage of the area of PQRS.
