I agree. We'd get all sorts of blinding flashy signatures.

Can you imagine how much it would stretch the forum? And pictures in signatures would use up space. You'd have to scroll for ages to just get past the first page. I think it's fine the way it is. If you desperately want to have a picture in your signature, maybe put a link or something.

Haven't you ever been buried in wet sand at the beach?

Yes.

I thought it was a big mound of dry sand I was jumping into, but actually, it was a large pile of wet muddy sand. You can imagine what happened.

And then there was the time I was wearing thongs on the beach and they got suctioned into the sand ...

Hi there,

I've moved this to Maths Resources because I thought it would be more appropriate. Hopefully you'll still be able to find the thread now.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome!

You have an interesting username ... is there any meaning behind it? big_smile

Take a look at this:

English drags

You have to click the play button in the flash interface for it to start playing. It's a lady talking about the 'paradoxes and idiocies' in the English language. big_smile

NB: I didn't write drags ... filter.

Hey dave, take a look at this page for starters: http://www.mathsisfun.com/pythagoras.html

There is a pretty simple activity about half way down the page using paper and scissors.

Using real life examples or actually physically acting them out (using different length ladders; creating triangles outside on the oval - use string and measure the lengths; etc) may also be another idea.

Hope the ideas on those pages are useful. Have fun. big_smile

Do you know if there is a way to type alt codes on a laptop with no number pad?

I have a laptop with no number pad. Do you have small numbers on your u, i, o, j, k, and l keys? This may be where your number pad is - it's just slanted. Activate numlock and use the corresponding keys ... unless you don't have the numbers there. big_smile

Also, could it be possible to

1. Make the circles stop once they get back to their original starting point?
2. Make the circles move/dilate etc when the sliders are moved, even when the circles have stopped moving, so we can see what the sliders actually do?

ok then manga anime happy now?

But ... you haven't really made a change. Manga is the comic book, anime is the cartoon/animation. You either choose one or the other. Not both.

Manga Cartoons are totally non-existance.

You spelt nonexistent wrong.

Just so you know.

NB: There is no point changing it and pretending it didn't happen.

#470 Re: Maths Is Fun - Suggestions and Comments » Test your coin skills » 2006-07-29 10:29:32

Yes, this is good for kids learning about money.

Only thing: my twenty cent and five cent pieces disappeared in a couple of the exercises, which made it particularly hard considering the item costed $3.05.

I was playing the Australian version.

Also, I clicked Options, Choose another currency, and all of the coins I put in the tray were still there.

I also ended up being able to use all currency at the same time (see picture).

Yeah, that makes more sense.

I would say put it under 'This is Cool', but

I think this is a good idea, but I would just like to check, how is this section different from Ganesh's Puzzles or Puzzles and Games?

From reading the above posts, my understanding is that people post puzzles with the answers hidden. And the difference from the other two forums is that people don't reply with the answer?
