36 correct 5 wrong - 2 mins 3 secs

I was kinda not concentrating that time, I'll try again

36 correct, 4 wrong - 1 mins 3 secs

On the third attempt, I got 36 correct and 1 wrong in 1 minute and 50 seconds. I still think it could be improved, though. :\

Great game BTW

UPDATE 21/03/2007: 1 minute and 18 seconds :: 36 correct, 0 wrong.

Go me.

This is great MathsIsFun! This'll keep me entertained during the long and boring  6 weeks...relaxing though the holiday may be, it sure is boring since you have nothing to do for 6 weeks!

Thee are some 'basic' topics in the Excercises forum. Is it OK to create 'Advanced' threads, or would it seem silly?

eg. Advanced Addition

Over a year has passed - There was a two minute silence a few weeks ago in memory of all who died in the London bombing. Such a thing is horrible, and I hope it doesn't happen again! For one, innocent people could die, and two, I live less than a mile away from where the bombings were!

I'm pretty sure it won't happen again though.

#4282 Re: Jokes » English » 2006-07-23 04:11:53

Yeah...I guess that's just how English is. Sometimes I think that someone just came up with all these phrases, wrote it in a book somewhere and then someone found it, and declared it proper English...just kidding, lol.

But anyway...why would you want to take a dump? Sounds horrible when people say it now that you think of it.

#4283 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Brown Noise » 2006-07-23 03:35:28

Sorry, didn't remember that. :\

It's a little hard to imagine what the brown note might sound like though, if we cannot hear it...

#4284 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Brown Noise » 2006-07-23 01:04:43

Yeah, that's true. smile

Especially for the pizzas...frozen, that is mostly.

#4285 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Brown Noise » 2006-07-23 00:04:23

Some brown note here: http://www.skyone.co.uk/programmes/brainiac/images/BrownNoiseMP3.mp3

This is quite...odd, like I said before. Didn't do anything to my bowels - People have reported slight loss of breathing. I think I experienced that, but it wasn't serious. You can try it out, and listen to t he whole thing, but don't turn it up too loud. That sound is horrible and irritating...now I kinda half believe the rumours!

#4286 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Brown Noise » 2006-07-22 22:45:03

Hehe, I guess I'm too used to saying 'brown noise' instead of 'brown note'. smile

But anyway, I'll try that, thanks. smile

I think it was 92 octaves below normal F#?

Basic Decimal Excercises

Easy decimals in here - Well not easy, basic. Not too complex...just do your best. Remember to have fun and take your time! smile

1. What is a half written as a decimal?
2. What is 0.5 x 0.6?
3. I have eaten 99.05% of a bar of chocolate. How much is left?
4. What is 0.5 / 30 to 3 decimal places?
5. What is 5/16 x 2/7? Simplify your answer, then write it as a decimal to 3 decimal places.
6. Arrange these decimals in descending order: 0.252, 0.522, 0.225, 0.0252, 0.552, 0.255.
7. Write thirty-one tenths as a decimal. Multiply your result by 0.25.
8. I ate 3 pieces of cake. There are 5 pieces left. Half of the 5 pieces of cake were not good to eat. How much of it was good to eat? How much had I eaten in the first place? Write your two answers as decimals.
9. What is 0.1 x 0.1?
10. What is 0.5 cubed?

That's true - A lot of people are interested in the part that causes humans to lose controls of their bowels!

But anyway, I'd like to know where I can get access to the brown note via the internet. I would like to do some testing with *cough*humans*cough* on how they react to it, and how changing the volume etc. has an effect on it. However, I do believe that brown noise can be a little dangerous. People have reported to have not needed to go to the toilet, but they have reported to have a horrible uneasy feeling in their bowels/stomach, and they seem to have not been able to get rid of it for hours.

Just out of interest - Has anyone ever actually witnessed the brown note?

Brown noise is an odd noise..but does it really do what it says it does?

Personally I've never tried it, but I've listened to it on the TV. The TV affects some of the sound though so broadcasting it won't have much effect. People have reported to have uneasy feelings in their stomachs, and wanting to go to the bathroom but they can't. I don't know if this is true, but there's always those who are brave enough to try it...

Interesting article. Especially the bottom paragraph at the bottom of the page. Any thoughts on this?

Surds Excercises

Ah...surds. Fun to work through, like algebra. Anyway, you should know how to do these - These don't have long surds like 'root 2097152' or 'root 97485492141'. They're more like 'root 147'...that kind. Have fun solving these!

1. Simplify 'root 18'.
2. Simplify 'root 72'.
3. Simply 'root 18' + 'root 72'.
4. Simplify 'root 45' + 'root 80'.
5. Simplify 'root 18' multiplied by 'root 6'.
6. Simplify 'root 48' over 'root 12'.
7. Simplify 'root 32' over 'root 6'.
8. Simplify ('root 18' ÷ 'root 72') over 'root 8'.
9. Simplify '4' over ('root 8' ÷ 'root 2').
10. Simplify '16' over ('root 20' ÷ 'root 12').

F y = sin½x°
G y = 2sin½x°
H y = sin2x°
I y = cos3x°
J y = (1/3)cosx°
