If we assign a man to say : i want to go back to earth , he can say that after he is taken to the central room the second time.
since the time is not important for them , then this is an acceptable  solution based on Dross hint.

no since all prisoners are picked randomly and therefor a prisoner can be brought to the central room twice before everyone else have been there...

what does the dot above y and x mean?

#254 Re: Puzzles and Games » 1 million! » 2006-09-20 02:31:58

yea your right but i still think commas should be allowed...

#255 Re: Puzzles and Games » 1 million! » 2006-09-19 08:52:43

if commas are not allowed, are just putting them together allowed? (i mean for example 6, 7 and 5 can be put together to 675)

i found the maya indians very fascinating. they used a counting system with 20 as base and did also create the concept zero very early. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Maya.png
they also did very accurate astronomical observations.

i also think i read somewhere that they predicted the end of the world, when translated to our calendar, to year 2012-2014 at the same time as a meteor will come very close to the earth smile

also what does the ! and comma mean and faculties?

which means you take all numbers up to that number multiplied with eachother (starting with 1 or 2). for example 4! = 1*2*3*4=24
aaaaand now i realize that the same thing happens here as with the exponents, its the same as using all these numbers.....darn sad

#260 Re: Puzzles and Games » Spot the error » 2006-09-18 07:13:53

here the error lies, when you regroup them, you change the function or what it is called...
even if it is infinite, it will always add

not

so when regrouped i guess they should look something like this:

which means that after 2 fractions have been added, the first one cancel the second one from the last pair of fractions, while the second fraction is still there. in the end of all these infinte fractions there will always be one single fraction added, instead of two...
smile

just a little question, im curious how you can get

to

by testing i see it is correct, but how do you do it, step by step?

if im right on the error, i post a proof tomorrow...

fine. are faculties allowed? smile

#262 Re: Puzzles and Games » 1 million! » 2006-09-16 21:15:12

if exponents are allowed smile

#263 Re: Help Me ! » triangles. please help? » 2006-09-08 22:09:45

and if u allow negative numbers, there are some more combinations smile

#265 Re: Help Me ! » the fly and the trains » 2006-09-03 08:22:12

the distance has nothing to do with the solution. Just the time and the flies speed?
i think the solution is correct

thanks Zhylliolom, now i get it tongue

#267 Re: Exercises » About the Exercises » 2006-08-25 21:39:17

im using them sometimes, but i dont post all answers, i just  use them to practise. but many of these exercises are things that i have never seen before tongue. an introduction on each exercises or a link to how to do it would be really great, then i can maybe learn something new. Anyway keep up the good work =p

nik, {hide=answer}write text here{/hide} creates a hide button {=[   and }=]
and do you really need to do a new post for every new exercise you solve??

#271 Re: Exercises » Basic Algebra » 2006-08-18 21:17:02

hm you could put the answer after every exercise in a hide button. like this:

7x+12=2-3x

seems like the odd numbers are like the line including all numbers but much more angular with less dots
edit :

I'll upload the pictures soon...

i was programming a program that can generate all numbers, then delete all primes/squares/palindromes etc, or keep them, and also painting a picture with dots at the numbers positions (and no dot where a nmber has been deleted).
when playing around with it i noticed a very cool thing
i rendered all numbers from 0 to 10000. then it looks like this:
http://www.geocities.com/tibiihost/all_numbers.bmp
every green dot is a number, and it is 10 numbers (10 pixels) wide. so for example the first line are numbers 0 to 9, 2nd are 10 to 19, the last line is 990 to 999 and the last dot is 1000 etc.

then i kept all perfect squares, removed all other numbers:
http://www.geocities.com/tibiihost/all_Squares.bmp
look at the pattern! it forms some kind of wave. btu that isnt everything
i removed all odd numbers, kept all even squares, and the dots remaining formed another wave shape, but reversed
http://www.geocities.com/tibiihost/all_Even_Squares.bmp
cool eh?? big_smile
