The bible did make the point that we are not animals... however.

Science may say we are in the 'animal' group, but really, if you think about it, we are so different from everything else, we can reason, we are advanced, and we have rights...

When do you think we'll ever find out for certain which gender is smarter? Perhaps we are supposed to never find out. All that has been said so far has been based on observations, experiments, and surveys. What we really need is a stringent mathematical proof.

You don't have to write flats for each of the same note in one bar. Say if you wanted 8 e flats in one bar, just apply the flat to the first e. You have to apply new flats if the note is moved up or down any number of octaves, and at the start of each new bar.

The shaded region is the region not required. It is where the inequality is not true.

Once you have drawn the graph, use a test coordinate to determine whether you need to shade above or below the line.
Any coordinate can be used, but usually the easiest is the origin, (0,0).

Substitute the coordinates into the inequality:
3(0) - 4(0) < 12
0 < 12
Since the inequation is true, the coordinate (0,0) is part of the required region, and hence shouldn't be shaded. Everything on the OTHER side of the line, however, is not required, and should be shaded.

Note that for inequalities using the sign < and >, the boundary line should be dashed. This is because the boundary line itself is not required.

(If the boundary line goes through the origin, another test coordinate must be used)

Well, let's take for example, the coordinates (1,4) (-3, 5).
The coordinates are of the form (x1, y1) (x2, y2), so we can substitute them into the formula:
(y - y1)(x2 - x1) = (x - x1) (y2 - y1)
    (y - 4)(-3 - 1) = (x - 1)(5 - 4)
         (y - 4)(-4) = (x - 1)(1)
Using the distributive law:
            -4(y - 4) = 1(x-1)
           -4y + 16 = x - 1
                   -4y = x - 17
∴                   y = -1/4x + 17/4

(I personally don't use this method [although it would probably benefit me if I did], instead, I find the gradient (y2-y1)/(x2-x1), then substitute the coordinate points in to solve for c)

Yeah, I remember seeing a great, informative (and glossy) documentary on string theory. It was called 'The Elegant Universe' by Brian Greene.

Here is a lot of interesting stuff on string theory, plus you can watch all the episodes:

(The documentary isn't really intended for the extremely mathematically inclined)

FermiLab is trying to find the graviton before CERN edges it out with its new particle collider which is supposed to be around 7x more powerful than the one at FermiLab.

They had better bloody find that graviton. If nobody finds it, where will we turn?
