The question is find : (5,8) and (4,3), these are points on a graph (x,y). You first must find the slope first, the slope is 5/1 or just 5. Now, I need to write the function this is where I have the problem. y - ysubscript1 = m(x - xsubscript1) is the formula ysubscript1 = 8 and xsubscript1 = 5. I hope someone can help me with this problem. The answer is y = (x) = 5x - 17 but I don't understand how the 17 got there please help. I hope I explained this in a good way if you need me to try to explain it better please ask.
