Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

You are not taking any medication?

M sent me this e-mail:

"I know you're not coming to the meeting tomorrow but would you mind sending me digital copies of all your current problem sheets? So I can look through them before tomorrow's mentor meeting."

I told her that I haven't been to lectures this week because of illness, so she said okay, get well soon. I *do* have a digital copy of my analysis problem sheet, but I didn't send it to her. I have to wonder why she e-mailed only me asking for the copies: perhaps she thinks that I am always available. That needs to change -- starting with me not showing up to her meeting to go to a lecture instead.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I do not like what they prescribe as I am unable to function when using them. Also they attack my stomach. I deal with the pain and lack of mobility but at least I can add 2 numbers and am not a junkie.

Why the sudden animosity towards her?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

What about simple painkillers?

I don't want her to see me as the guy who will give everything and expect nothing in return. It has been me doing all the giving so far.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I can use aspirin but save them for migraines. I appears I can only feel one type of pain at a time so I sometimes let the migraine pound my head because I do not feel my back during those times.

She has asked you for math help?

What about physiotherapy or massages?

Not exactly. In the last couple of meetings it has always been me helping her when she is stuck. And in our e-mail 'conversations' it has almost always been me asking her about herself and her being short with me.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

They are very expensive and not covered by my insurance.

Maybe you can use that to your advantage.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

How expensive? I dread the day when the NHS gets privatised...

How could I use it to my advantage?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Medical care in the US ranks #1 in cost and about #80 in quality. It could easily be 1000 dollars per hour, perhaps more. It also might do more harm then good.

I think you have the right to start to use some of Homework guys rules on her.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

That is really expensive. Sometimes I feel like we take (some aspects of) free healthcare for granted on the NHS -- especially upon hearing that others who are less fortunate have to pay so much.

How do you mean?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

The one thing a NH system can not do anything about is the general incompetence.

HG would want a little compensation for his expertise.

By NH you mean National Health?

I still don't feel like me and M are on the same level. I haven't spoken to her for a while, and I probably won't see her again. Not sure if I should be considering her.

Oh, and Katrina hasn't responded for over 5 days.

I did see her in the maths building on the ground floor, but I really didn't have time to stop and chat. I was running late. I'm not sure if she saw me or not.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I hadn't met the lecturer before. Some lecturers are okay with it if you turn up 15 minutes late, others will humiliate you in front of everybody if you are a fraction of a minute late.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I have a pretty horrible lecturer.

I remember the first time we had him -- a girl was 5 minutes late on her first day. He says (in a very patronising tone) "Hello! We've been waiting for you. Do come in. No, don't sit at the back -- come to the front row." At this point, she is apologising profusely, looks scared out of her skin. He then proceeds to question her, asking for her name, not accepting any of her lateness excuses. She keeps saying she's really sorry -- his response: "Oh, you will be sorry." Patronises her for a bit before kicking her out. That's one lecture you really don't want to be late to. If you're lucky you'll get away with just a 'get out'.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Linear algebra. Well, that's the name of his class, but it contains a mix of other things, like logic and some stuff on proof.

Nothing -- I haven't told anyone... although I had someone from my tutorial group e-mail me the homework we got.
