Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

What did you say?

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I am still thinking about what to say. I feel as though I have to ask a question though otherwise she will just stop replying.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Have you asked her if she is already in a relationship?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I haven't... I don't think it's right to ask her that yet.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I think you had to find that out first. Any rings? Any mention of a bf?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

No rings, no mention of a BF. Her Facebook has no picture of a guy anywhere, no indication that she is in a relationship. I get the feeling she is single although I can't be certain -- I did think that adriana was single before she told me the 'truth'.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

That might not be a good sign. Usually there are some always buzzing around.

I have to get off, see you tomorrow.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I hope she is not 'different'... that would drag.

Okay, see you tomorrow. I think M has gone to bed too.

That could be a possibility. I do not envy young men today.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It is a tougher time to be a teenager -- people seem to be more insecure with themselves than ever before.

M has gone to bed. The conversation is much less formal now, thankfully. We were just talking about what we did over the weekend.

That is good. Do you have any other common interests besides math?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Hmm, I'm not sure yet. She said she spent her weekend doing problem sheets, watching TV, staying indoors, cleaning the house. Maybe she doesn't get out much, like me.

Next time ask her about the things you like to do without mentioning that you like them.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Sometimes you need things in common and sometimes you do not. Sometimes two people can develop new interests that they both share. Whatever is the case, you will communicating with her very intimately. If you are able to do this you will overcome any resistance. Draw her out and get her to talk about herself.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

So far, I have got her to tell me:

-How her first week has been
-What options she picked for the next term
-What course she is doing
-What she wants to do after graduation
-What A-levels she did
-Whether or not she always wanted to do maths
-How her weekend was

Do you think this is moving in the right sort of direction?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

There is only 3 things that girls like better than muscles and good looks. Money, Bad attitude and guys who are good talkers. I think you are going good. Where it will go? No one can say.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I want to eventually ask her what her long-term plans are -- i.e. if she wants to get married and have children. It's an opportunity for her to mention a boyfriend, her sexuality or anything that might be pertinent to the situation. But, at the same time, I don't want to appear too clingy... that would happen if it became a one-way conversation, right?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

They love to talk about themselves so let her talk. I would hold off with that question for a bit.

The more she answers and volunteers, the more comfortable she is with you. The gift of gab as it was called in the old days is a powerful weapon in life.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

She is definitely responding well so far. Not intimate, she has at least found my anecdotes about living in halls funny.

The only catch is that she tends to respond to the e-mails by telling me about her, but not asking me anything in return. Is this a bad thing?

At the very least, she has stepped out of the mentor role in conversing with me.
