Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaAre you happy because this post ends with axq 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #12227 20131004 05:04:46
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHmmm. Now the search is successful. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12228 20131004 07:17:52#12229 20131004 10:04:12
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaVery good! What will you do next? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12230 20131004 16:53:45
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI'm not sure... maybe see if I can find her and talk to her again. #12231 20131004 18:48:31
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWhere you met her the first time seems like a good place to start. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12232 20131004 23:32:50
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaDidn't see her today (well, I saw her arriving and sitting somewhere else, if that counts). Sent her an email last night so she'll probably respond later. #12233 20131004 23:42:47
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWhy did she say that? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12234 20131005 00:10:08
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI don't know, maybe she feels uncomfortable around me. Do you think it is because: #12235 20131005 03:35:51
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI do not know. Whatever it is, she does not seem like a good prospect. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12236 20131005 03:37:47
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaThat's a shame, it sounded like it would be fun. #12237 20131005 03:40:39
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIt might have been but she seems to be acting like F. Could be nothing though. See what happens in the next few meetings with her. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12238 20131005 03:43:22
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIf I bother turning up. The meeting with her today was pointless, I have to say. #12239 20131005 03:46:40
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWhat did she say? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12240 20131005 03:50:13
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaShe just asked us how we found the course so far, how our week has been, etc. then she asked us to get out our problem sheets and talk about them. She was able to solve the very obvious ones (like matrix multiplication and simple probability questions) but seemed lost on the harder ones. Then for the analysis questions told us where we could find help with solving some of them. #12241 20131005 03:53:54
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHow many of you were there at the meeting? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12242 20131005 03:55:21
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaAbout 67, I think... about evenly split in terms of ratio of guys to girls. #12243 20131005 04:07:12
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaMaybe she just does not like elevators... In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12244 20131005 04:10:25#12245 20131005 04:14:15
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaThe shy ones take a long time to approach. Sometimes they never do. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12246 20131005 04:22:46
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI was going to approach her after the meeting had finished but she seemed to be trying to make a getaway. Perhaps she won't allow me to approach her? #12247 20131005 04:28:48
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHas there been any sign from her? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12248 20131005 04:30:52
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaNot really... I mean, she responded to my emails pretty quickly (regarding me buying her book) but other than that, nothing significant. #12249 20131005 04:36:47
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI agree, there is nothing there to hope for. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #12250 20131005 04:39:30
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI may just continue going to the meetings to see what happens.
