Are you happy because this post ends with axq

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Hmmm. Now the search is successful.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it.
All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.

Very good! What will you do next?

I'm not sure... maybe see if I can find her and talk to her again.

Where you met her the first time seems like a good place to start.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Didn't see her today (well, I saw her arriving and sitting somewhere else, if that counts). Sent her an e-mail last night so she'll probably respond later.

My mentor on the other hand, I am confused with. I think she feels a bit awkward around me. We were getting in the elevator together, and as I walked in she says "I think I'll take the stairs"...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I don't know, maybe she feels uncomfortable around me. Do you think it is because:

(a) I rejected her offer to buy her book, and
(b) She was nervous when trying to explain mathematical concepts to us and didn't know the answers to some things, so I sometimes made suggestions or corrected her where appropriate?

I do not know. Whatever it is, she does not seem like a good prospect.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

That's a shame, it sounded like it would be fun.

So now there is just one prospect.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It might have been but she seems to be acting like F. Could be nothing though. See what happens in the next few meetings with her.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

If I bother turning up. The meeting with her today was pointless, I have to say.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

She just asked us how we found the course so far, how our week has been, etc. then she asked us to get out our problem sheets and talk about them. She was able to solve the very obvious ones (like matrix multiplication and simple probability questions) but seemed lost on the harder ones. Then for the analysis questions told us where we could find help with solving some of them.

She does seem a bit nervous and shy/quiet for this mentor role.

About 6-7, I think... about evenly split in terms of ratio of guys to girls.

I was going to approach her after the meeting had finished but she seemed to be trying to make a getaway. Perhaps she won't allow me to approach her?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Not really... I mean, she responded to my e-mails pretty quickly (regarding me buying her book) but other than that, nothing significant.
