Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

The waiting. When they do not get a reaction then they move on figuring you do not like them.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Do you think my reaction (asking for her number) was enough?

I didn't see her in any of my lectures today. I couldn't even spot her anywhere...

I think I should text her and ask for her e-mail. At this rate I probably won't see her very often.

Do you want to see her?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

That does not sound too urgent. You can text her or wait for her to appear.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

There is still my mentor (who is basically my age) who I am seeing tomorrow morning to discuss the problem sheets. She might be annoyed at me though, because I told her I found someone else who would give me their first-year books for free.

That should not be a problem. Did any of these mention a bf at all?

You will still have to pick one first.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I don't know, it is hard to say who I am more likely to have success with.

You will still have to pick one first to ask. That is unless you are not interested.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It is really hard to say. With my mentor we still have the 'student-teacher' dynamic -- with I assuming the role of the student -- and that might not be easy to break. With the other girl, however, there is no barrier; we are on level terms.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

None of that really counts. The student - teacher dynamic is a powerful one.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

But if she's the teacher then how can that be a good dynamic for me?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

She did say she wanted to be a teacher when she finished her degree, though. So did the other girl. Interesting.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Mathematician is a title. It is man made. If we threw you and her into the jungle she would cease being one. It has no meaning other then the one society gives it.

Male - Female is more elementary, more basic. She is a girl.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I need to get a lot closer to her to overcome those barriers...

Are you any good with axiomatic arithmetic?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

What barriers? You can just allow her to maneuver you where she wants to.

Are you any good with axiomatic arithmetic?

Most people would agree I am hardly good at anything. They are correct. But if there is one thing in this world I hate it is the axiomatic approach to math. So, I would have to say no.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Well, I get to see my mentor tomorrow at 11 AM. We will see what happens...

Well, I am not one of those 'most people'... I hate the axiomatic approach, too. I've been asked to prove a bunch of things and I'm stuck on a few.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

You can post them in Help Me. Some other people like that way of doing math.
