Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

No more exam conditions? I am not following you.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I was about an hour into the paper and had to stop. So the exam conditions aren't really there anymore because I've had extra time to think about it...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I see what you are saying. That can not be helped. My sister will be calling me soon.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Why?

(I've decided to abandon the paper and do it over again under exam conditions, closer to the STEP III exam date... don't know if that's the best thing to do)

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Why the call? Because she loves me enough to call once a month but not more often than that. Also because she loves me enough to want to make sure I am 2800 miles away from her.

That sounds okay to me. Do the paper under exam conditions is probably best.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Near NYC, geographically about 2500 miles but by the roads 2800.

That is the British way too.

I think I should have taken longer than 2 days to reply to adriana.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Nothing, I just think I should have waited for her to e-mail me again when she is desperate.

Holly also e-mailed me this morning but I don't care about pursuing her anymore. It's amazing that when you concentrate on mathematics you really stop caring about girls, as you said...

That works most of the time but the periods when it wears off the feeling can be intensified for awhile.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Then I just have to make sure it doesn't wear off.

I must try to have a summer of relaxation with lots of maths involved -- and no girls.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Yes, it's easy to get lost in it. It can provide order in a disordered world. That's how Jakow Trachtenberg described it, I think.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

People say you should not isolate yourself like that. I am constantly being told I should aimlessly fly around the country to dispel the opinion that I am a hermit now. Yes, you should fly to Cleveland like so and so does. Kaboobly doo!

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Whilst it is physical isolation, it certainly isn't mental isolation. The mind can explore too, and mathematics is a great way for exploration to be expressed.

That is what nature wants. To violate it is sort of a crime.
