Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

That critic has always been a part of me. Without it I would not have the academic success I have at the moment...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I do not know. He seems sort of rough, I mean even after the lecture was over he said things like,"it sounds rubbish to me," and "I personally think I didn't perform well."

I say fire that guy.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Maybe but he sure does not ever say anything encouraging. I ask you honestly, supposing you had a friend that was exactly like him towards you. Would you like or hang around that fellow?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Probably not, or possibly but I would have a hard time keeping them as a friend.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

So why keep that guy inside of you? He is called doubt and indecision and he is not your friend.

He also stops me from being arrogant or making myself think I am better than I actually am.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Yes, but he is always the same, even when you have done well. We learn by being criticized when wrong but we do need positive feedback when we are right. He is like a navigator who can only execute a left handed turn, what about an honest appraisal when you have done well? He is not a friend.

He gives me positive feedback too, like when I do well in exams. He might be a by-product of the disciplined side of me.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I have never heard in a single post that guy ever being tolerant of you. It was not rubbish. If people got something out of it then it was huge. What the heck does he know anyway, what the heck has he ever done?

Seems strange to be talking about yourself but it is not. It is not you, it is only a small part of you. There is a gentler or shall we say more diplomatic guy inside there too. Let him speak. Let him post and let him go after the girls. Leave the loser at home.

In competition, that is exactly what we call him. He is always doubting us. Even after doing something for 20 years he still says "what if I make a mistake?" "Do I really know how to do this?" Remember, "paralysis by analysis?" That was said by Arthur Ashe.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I mean, I can understand why on paper people would love it. But when I articulate it it just sounds weird... that part of me did get put away today of course, when my project got completed.

Yes! The adriana record is broken 26 days. Now let's see how long we can make the record.

Look at it this way, a record has been set of you dumping her.

I guess so. Katie, Holly and Hannah have sort of been dumped too.

They were taking abhorrent lengths of time to reply and they never seemed that interested in the e-mails anymore. So I forgot about them.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It does mean that I am out of prospects though. But strangely I don't feel unhappy about that. Finishing that project, doing that report, production log, presentation, etc. was very satisfying. Really took my mind off of the dating game. I should do that more often...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Probably no one has had more problems than I whenever I began to think about one of them seriously. One disaster after another. I found that mathematics was the right panacea.

Total concentration on anything can block out anything. To feel pain you have concentrate on the pain. Detachment from the things of the world means a life of no pain.

For me I can only remain detached for short periods of time before it fades a bit.

I'm still talking to PJ quite a bit though.

Nobody can do it all the time or even close to that. But you can greatly shorten these periods of mourning.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I just can't be bothered with them at the moment. Only 2 weeks left of school, it just seems pointless to keep beating dead horses.

I have e-mails from PJ, R and Holly that I'm going to ignore.

Seems Holly is distressed. She was standing a few metres from me talking to her friends, whilst I was talking to mine. She would look at me from time to time. I didn't really acknowledge her.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Also isn't your statistics question in the Exercises forum a hypothesis testing thing/critical regions etc.? I had to do so many of those last year, it became incredibly tedious learning the thousands of different types...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It is a very simplistic question designed to bring home the concept of a Bernoulli process and maybe even a random walk. I did not want to mention hypothesis testing to start.
