Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Not the teachers, marauding gangs of thugs pounce on nerds. The teachers over here have no time to teach, they are too busy defending themselves.

It has been going on for a long time.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

You always see it happening in movies but it seems rarer over here. Or maybe I am just lucky.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

We have a lot violence in the schools. Police are brought in all the time to deal with students. The newspapers do not report it and it generally is swept under the rug.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

They do like to do a lot of sweeping under the rug. It's the easiest way to deal with the problem from their perspective.

Just means no one cares whether or not the people here are educated.

I am going to get some sleep, see you later.

Hi;

Any more word from either of them?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Nope. I haven't heard from adriana since Thursday... then again I did send her two long e-mails about the gamma and beta functions because she asked me to explain them, maybe I shouldn't have. That could be putting her off.

She did say she was really busy this weekend though -- she got a volunteering job at a homeless shelter doing weekend shifts, she is tutoring, and she (of course) is going to another birthday party. That could be the reason.

But the old adriana would e-mail me every day, no matter what. She would find a way.

The one who talked to me more often and hadn't been infected by Cyprus BF syndrome.

Now remember Cyprus guy was there first. He was her bf. Of course no sane person would agree but that is the way she looks at it.

Of course, there will always be a party for her.

Yep -- I come up short again. Only thing to take away from this is that I am closer and should have taken my chances.

Yes, you did have some opportunities to indulge your whims but you still would have ended up in third or fourth place.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Victory?

Kipling wrote:

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

It is amazing that any westerner could be so eastern, wunderbar!

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I like that poem -- I first heard about it when I saw the plaque displayed at Wimbledon.

My youth is running out though and I don't want to get old and still be clueless when it comes to women...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

You will always be clueless about women. They are clueless about men but are not man enough to admit it.

In this game, Victory = Defeat and Defeat = Victory.

The Doc: Do you ever win a fight?

Dalton: Nobody ever wins a fight.

We haven't talked about this yet but what will happen if you succeed with her?

Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I have a bit of fun before it ends. Would be nice to have the experience and even if it ends badly then that experience is good too.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

If I spend my life worrying about every little thing I won't get anywhere, I have to take some risk, expose myself to some uncertainty to reap a reward of sorts...
