Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaYes, because basically to knock out a permutation you just divide by a factorial. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9077 20130313 11:08:08
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI wish I could read it now but schoolwork has been hectic. Teacher not making sense with deadlines. #9078 20130313 11:12:51
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaThey fade after time, but they do not disappear. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9079 20130313 11:21:07
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIt's a lot easier if I have another prospect. Holly (the girl I talked to a lot over the weekend) doesn't even seem to like maths even though she wants to do it at uni. I think she is only doing it because it's the only subject she is able to get an A or B in. She stopped talking to me after she got bored of me, obviously. #9080 20130313 11:33:51
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaBored? How do you know that? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9081 20130313 11:36:10
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaStops asking questions, gives closed responses, fake 'interest' in what you said (like when someone just says 'cool'). Will just have to wait for someone new. #9082 20130313 11:42:00
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaThat does look like boredom. Why does she do well in math when she does not like it? Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIt is an easy subject, Alevel Maths. No understanding of concepts needed at all. #9084 20130313 18:18:28
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaSo she just want A's? No interest at all? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9085 20130313 18:29:54
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIf there is interest then there isn't much. She said that when she wants to go to uni she wants to try and see if she can take modules from other courses, like politics or geography, although she has applied for straight maths. #9086 20130313 18:33:27
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWon't the math toughen up on her now? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIn my school, people wanting to do maths at university typically take on 12 modules at school to get Alevels in Maths and Further Maths. #9088 20130313 18:40:58
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaShe is very strange. But I guess it takes all types of people to make the world. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9089 20130313 18:46:10
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI guess she is just not as dedicated a mathematician as others... #9090 20130313 18:51:37
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaUsually people can only excel at things they enjoy. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #9091 20130313 18:53:13
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formulaadriana enjoyed mathematics. That took up a fair chunk of our conversation. I guess that's why I get along well with female mathmos; that is mostly the only thing we have in common. #9092 20130313 18:58:53
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI think having a lot in common with a girl is a myth. I think it is impossible. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaCertainly for me, anyway. #9094 20130314 03:42:15
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWhy is it the best wedding ever? Because it was happening to someone else? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI don't know, I asked her, she hasn't responded yet... #9096 20130314 08:22:36
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaAlso, he seems like a great speaker on YouTube but he wasn't that great in person. Many, many awkward 15second pauses, seemed like he was unprepared. Flashes of good stuff but I thought it would be better. Oh well... #9097 20130314 08:28:12

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaBut the documentaries I have seen him in were carefully prepared and edited. The question is, how can he be unprepared to talk about his life work? In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaIt was strange... maybe because of his age? He is 80 this year.
