Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaThat is okay, it is my bedtime soon anyway. #6477 2012-11-21 09:52:48
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6478 2012-11-21 10:07:13
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHmm, then I suppose in that sense it will be easier to get the shyer girl (in this case Katie) since next to someone like her I look more confident than usual. #6479 2012-11-21 10:13:26
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHeck yea! Sounds like you might make it to politics! In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6480 2012-11-21 10:21:06
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHarder to do over e-mail though. Your grammar and vocabulary can convey authority but that's about it... and you are more likely to come across as boastful if text is the only mode of conversation. #6481 2012-11-21 10:27:51
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula
Every man is three men. The man he thinks he is, the man everyone else thinks he is and the man he truly is. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6482 2012-11-21 10:32:55
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaBut I have told her most of what I do -- all I have left are playing with my sister (not really a hobby), and solving maths problems. I suppose I could tell her certain maths problems I found interesting. #6483 2012-11-21 10:40:26
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaYes, that is a powerful stimulant to girls. They are attracted to strong convictions and desires. Pass on your beliefs and passion for the subject. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6484 2012-11-21 10:45:56
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI forgot to mention she is a strong maths type too so I can also use that. She is doing a project on Euclid's parallel postulate (geometry is not my favourite field to be honest) but it is nice to talk to someone at length about maths. In my mock Cambridge interview one question I got asked was to find prime factors of 612612503503, and she liked the trick used. #6485 2012-11-21 10:47:50
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaAnd I do hope not all the female maths types I meet are mentally unstable. The previous two were complete headcases. Katie seems fine though. #6486 2012-11-21 10:49:49
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaA little trick. One of the greatest minds of the twentieth century once said, "Anyone having a relationship should also have a live in psychiatrist present, to deal with her mood swings!" In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6487 2012-11-21 10:55:14
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaYes, but the previous two WERE headcases, or at least one was (mental hospital). Mood swings are surely not as bad, though I don't know much about dealing with those from a woman. #6488 2012-11-21 10:58:10
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaListen, they are strange beyond belief. You will never understand them nor they you! But as my signature says you do not need to understand to be successful with them. All of mine were headcases as you call them. It does not matter, we are all strange. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6489 2012-11-21 11:03:56
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWell, part of me is considering a case like F, for example; I could not understand her actions most of the time, but I would like to say I've learned from this experience, so the next time I find someone similar, with F's behavioral traits, I can skip a few steps and have much less hassle in the long-run. But, like a mathematical problem, I feel a bit unsatisfied having not understood anything. #6490 2012-11-21 11:19:58
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaForget math! It is a human invention at best. We are talking about emotions. I had lots of girls act like F and C. That is the norm. Here is a truism very popular in Vegas. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6491 2012-11-21 11:26:21
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaLike F? What did you do about them? #6492 2012-11-21 11:31:30
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaHmmmm. Those two categories are not the right one. Get into the middle one! In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6493 2012-11-21 11:36:16
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI can't always make things happen the way I want them to... #6494 2012-11-21 11:41:36
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI was not detached. I was emotional about the result. Each negative answer was a blow to my ego. When you are concerned with results you are like on a rollercoaster.
Detachment, explained beautifully. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6495 2012-11-22 01:46:59
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI had to recall that poem in grade 4. Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. -Archimedes My maturity level depends on the people I am around. #6496 2012-11-22 02:27:03
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaI think it is much easier to be less emotional about the result if you have a wide range of possibilities to choose from. When I asked F and C out, they were each my only option. Now, I have Katie, R, and two other girls. Less blows to my ego. #6497 2012-11-22 09:31:47
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaDepends on how you handle that. Sometimes more is not better. The whole process is big mess. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6498 2012-11-22 09:37:11
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaWell, as long as I have a sufficiently large 'pool', but the women are chosen such that they tend to be independent of each other (so nothing backfires on me). That almost turns it into a numbers game. #6499 2012-11-22 09:39:38
Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 FormulaYou have heard of Murphy's law? When they are concerned everything will go wrong. You will have to deal with it. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #6500 2012-11-22 09:41:54 |
