Some of them are completely unaware of polite conduct or think that because they are female they are excused from it.

Even simpler is the twin prime conjecture which has been with us for an even longer time.

Yes, I hate it when they do that. Standing right in front of me really annoyed me though. With people like that, I do not bother to talk to them, because I know that they will likely be short with me and be a chore to talk to. As you said, it takes two to have a conversation.

I like that one too. A few years ago I became obsessed with primes but did not come up with a single proof. I made a lot of conjectures though.

Nothing you can do there but just let her finish.

I did, and me and my friend resumed talking afterwards.

She must be good looking or think she is. Also, she thinks she knows all about guys because she has played around with a few.

So, probably best just to stay quiet in that situation...

That would depend on your image. What you can and can not get away with will always depend on how others perceive you.

People perceive me as quiet, a girl told me that today. And I am a bit short so of course I don't resemble anyone of intimidating stature.

Some girls like the quiet type. It is mysterious to them and different.

Or maybe because they have someone who will listen to them... they seem to prefer a louder guy on average though.

Unless you are Gary Cooper, smiling alot and being extroverted are better.

Sometimes when a girl tells you that it is a plea for you to open up to her.

I didn't really want to, that girl was a bit annoying...

I also ran into a girl on the street today when I was with my friend. I didn't recognise her, but she recognised me -- 3 years ago, I won a prize for a speech I did and came 1st, and apparently she came 2nd with a speech on refugees... but I could not remember her name. Her face and speech did start to come back to me though. I was really surprised that she recognised my face. I think her name was Melissa, I've forgotten now unfortunately. But she goes to my college, so I may see her around.

Annoying? How?

You might see her around.

I don't know if annoying is the right word, just something was off-putting about her. Whenever someone would talk to her, she would just play on her phone and not listen.

I hope I do see her around, she seems nice. But, again, ridiculous that after a year of going to this college I have not seen her once. It's possible that she just moved to the sixth form though.

Oh yes, one other thing... today in chemistry, we were set a paper of exam questions to do, and she asked after 20 minutes or so if anyone had finished, but I was the only one who had so I raised my hand so my teacher just said to find something else to do. The girl on the table in front of me (who wants to do maths at uni too) turned her head half around and smiled at me, first time she has done anything like that.

You know, come to think of it, this has been a surprisingly good day for girls and I did not expect it. Three girls who I could potentially have a shot at and two of them are in my chemistry class and even sit next to each other.

Yes, and you were the one saying you had no prospects till the end of 2013.

It was looking that way. And if we assign rough (relative) probabilities, I think I would have the biggest shot at PJ, about half as much as that with the maths girl, and a quarter of that with Melissa, who I may never actually see again (depends on where I hang out I suppose). I have yet to deduce a numerical value for PJ though.

I say 71.38% . But I am not sure of the last digit.

The point is never talk about tomorrow. It has not happened yet.

Okay. It looks like I may be wrong about 2013. The worst that could happen is I could extend the streak to 0/12, but that is not too bad I suppose.

Yep! You are well on your way to 0 and 2000. I envy you!

Hmm. I guess I could make it into a game of how high I can push the streak. I am sure I can put Graham's number to shame.

Now you are bragging. Get to the 0 and 2000 first, then I will believe you.

Okay, but soon you will be needing to work in standard form.

I have yet to deduce a numerical value for PJ though.

Since you did not mention anyone else, we can assume they have a probability of 0. You can now assign a probability to PJ.

You mean, no one else apart from the 3 girls I mentioned?

I don't know, it is difficult to assign a probability.
