Ah, that's just mean. Up until now, the word that we were trying to spell was obvious, and the challenge was just to spell it. You could have warned us if you were going to start playing the ghoti game.

No need to be sorry, I should have clarified that it was Jane I was mildly annoyed at.
And the ghoti game is a phrase that I made up.

'Ghoti' is the most famous example of how words can be spelt horiffically wrong by playing with phonetics. (It's not very famous, but it's still the most famous one there is. tongue)

Therefore, ghoti is how to spell fish.

In answer to your question, I once saw my old physics teacher write the word 'elecricitiy'. Not sure if it beats your example, but it's still quite bad.
