Re: Bullying-reasons or whims?

Well, everyone is different.  I'm a fighter, but I fight from a distance, so I might run from those giving me problems, but I'm still sticking up for myself.  You don't have to put up with C-R-A-P once your older, because you can pick up everything you have and move 100 miles away!!

But that will be you in 5 (?) years. But I predict that things will change for the better in a year or so.

When you're older things get worse, like idiots trashing your back garden and breaking into your house.

Yes, I had a bad weekend

Sorry 'bout the garden. Thanks for the stuff.

Boy let me tell you what:
I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

Re: Bullying-reasons or whims?

I hear the pain of what you are going though. As a teacher, I have to say that there are not enough of us who DO care and take action to stop bullying. I apologize for my profession.  I have noticed, as have other respondees, that bullying can be either whimsical or planned. At the grade-school level, it's not generally planned. Many of the bully-ees are the high-achievers, the students who are able to express themselves. The worst bulliers are the low-achievers who, however unconsciously, feel that they are being left in the dust. Um, they are. Think about it . . . when caught, they are suspended. Suspended kids don't learn, don't achieve, don't succeed in life.

The other, unconscious, type of bullying could be a result of abusive behavior toward the child at home. Many things happen at home that we may not know about.

People who are righteously, quietly proud (not swell-headed) of their personal accomplishments aren't bullies. This is what I try to achieve in my class. Strength of character, Knowledge of and pride in self, Honor in action. It's a long, long road. I only have my 33 kids for 180 days. A teacher can only hope to make a lasting impression.

Good luck with your situation.

Re: Bullying-reasons or whims?

I enjoyed John's message about not getting into your 4 decades of life. Not shy, I WILL get into mine!!

Listen, kids, in the grand scheme of life -- which is VERY long -- your elementary and high school experiences mean nothing. Really. Nothing. I've been to exactly one of my reunions. I remembered exactly two of my "friends" from high school. I don't think about them and the only reason I think about my school years is to remember how NOT to teach.

Right now, all but four or five years of your lives have been about school -- and it's quite probable that you don't remember much from those first four or five years.  Many adults will tell you to ignore hateful people. You can't. You can, however, learn what NOT to do to other people. Right? You have spoken of revenge. What does that accomplish? A temporary reprieve, a short feeling of accomplishment. These people have cronies. Their retaliation will be commensurate with yours. Both physical and mental violence escalates.

You have talked about suicide. What, exactly, will that accomplish? The only person who gets relief is you, I guess. The only people who are punished are the people who truly love and care about you. They remain here to wonder how they could have prevented the tragedy that YOU created. You become the bully because you were too much of a coward to live your life and learn from each experience you were given. The other people -- the bullies -- don't give a rat's *#@ anyway. They will forget you and find somebody else to torment.

Find courage. Look within yourself to find your strength. Learn from every experience the universe gives you. Learn. That is the best "revenge" of all. In 10 years, go back to the "old" neighborhood, visit the burger joint, and (secretly) laugh at the bulles who are now ripping lettuce (not even flipping burgers) because they have no education.

Find peace. Look within, again, because it's not around you. If you are a member of a religion, participate. If not, go find a book on spirituality and (gasp!) read it.

Love yourself. If you don't, nobody else can.

Also YAY VIRGO! And white rabbits are a chinese creamy sweet! I LOVE WHITE RABBITS!
