Happy Valentine's day to everyone, and a kiss to all the ladies on the forum.

Happy Valentine's Day!! I'll have to graph that myself to see the heart form myself...

Re: Happy Valentine's

Haha, very nice. How come you've plotted a Polar graph on Cartesian co-ordinates though?

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Ask the designers of the graphing calculator! tongue

This is just one of a whole mess of heart equations I designed a while back. You might recall this thread: http://www.mathsisfun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3872

(edit) I just modified the equation and graph a bit. Doesn't get much better than that I'd say!

So do any of us math nerds actually have any valentines? sad

Re: Happy Valentine's

Ah, that thread must have been made while my internet was broken, making me miss it. Until now, that is. I like how you can change some parameters to get all kinds of different heart shapes. Now you need to figure out how to make them 3D! big_smile

According to one of my lecturers, the equation for love can be found as follows:
"Love" pronounced slightly differently becomes "'l'oeuf" (possibly misspelt)
This is French for "The egg."
Eggs are elliptical in shape.

Therefore, the equation for love is x²/a² + y²/b² = 1.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Ahhh... Valentines and speaking French ...

Husband, trying to be romantic, says "Je t'adore".

Wife responds "Shut the darn door yourself"

I like the ring of that.  Mikau's cardioid.

Re: Happy Valentine's

I made a whole thread on it in case you didn't see. I might also make a thread on designing shapes using polar equations. I managed to develop some pretty usefull techniques.

Re: Happy Valentine's

'Bombones' means 'chocolates'.

Also, brazilian isn't a language. O.o

Perhaps you mean portuguese?

Although I was speaking Spanish.

No habla español?

But this topic isn't about Spanish.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day is not very special to me as I do not celebrate it and it is a normal day for me.

Re: Happy Valentine's

I don't celebrate it formally, but heck I see no reason to to ignore it.

It usually depresses me because I never have a valentine. sad

At our school library the librarians were giving a chocolate to everyone who borrowed a book. It was a very tasty day.

Yes, I agree! Our form teacher gave us all strawberry Freddos ... and we had a Valentine's Day 'party' in Ethics. It was more like an excuse to eat food during class, but it was still good. We got to eat cake while watching 'School Ties' ...

Re: Happy Valentine's

Valentine's Day isn't a scam, there was a person named Valentine. Valentine's Day is a day to remember him.
