Re: why do i have to login twice

Happens to me too, need to enter the id/passwd twice to see "logged in as" message at the top.

I don't remember my password given to me...

Re: why do i have to login twice

Hi,

Looks like we encounter the problem when chrome or opera is used.
Firefox worked fine logging in once.

Also, id/passwd is posted in plaintext, is it possible to upgrade it to secure it?

Re: why do i have to login twice

Hi gAr;

Maybe that is why I have never had this problem, I only use FF.

Re: why do i have to login twice

I see, I use FF for browsing and chrome for logging into registered sites.
Anyway, it's an unexpected behavior!

Re: why do i have to login twice

When I login with FF it is encrypted. Are you saying with Chrome it is not?

Re: why do i have to login twice

For me even when on FF it's not encrypted, id and passwd are sent over the network unencrypted.

Re: why do i have to login twice

Checked using wireshark. The "live HTTP headers" FF addon can also be used to test that.

A part of the POST information looks like this:
form_sent=1&redirect_url=index.php&req_username=<myid>&req_password=<mypasswd>&login=Login

Re: why do i have to login twice

Yes, it is helpful to know the packets sent to and from your computer. Yes, it's freely downloadable.

I wanted to tell when I started using the forum, but did not think there would not be much problem since the messages are public anyway.
But recently read about the defacements/info stealing happening to ubuntu forum, app*e stores,  and made the request to secure it.

Re: why do i have to login twice

I do believe that FF knows that this line is unsecured but the new server is very, very protective. It is the best one we have had.

Re: why do i have to login twice

I too believe the server is well protected. I was just trying to say that if there's any rogue router in between, it can get the login info.

Can't say, only my speculation.
Even one is bad.
