Make 9,999 using 9 nines

Can you do that? Good luck!

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

I agree with you regarding the satisfaction and importance of actually computing some numbers. I can't tell you how often I see time and money wasted because someone didn't bother to run the numbers.

999*(9+9/9)+9*9/9

Re: Make 9,999 using 9 nines

Hi Bobby,

Your last solution has only eight nines.

W|A didn't like that one (can't think logically, I suppose).

M first said "General::ovfl: Overflow occurred in computation", but then it gave the answer 9999 anyway.

Re: Make 9,999 using 9 nines

Hi;

Yes, it did look like there were only 8 nines there. I changed it.

He was right to say overflow but of course yours is right too.

9(9-9+9999/√9/√9)=9999

Re: Make 9,999 using 9 nines

9*9=81 (2 nines)
81*99=8,019 (4 nines)
8,019+(99*9)=8,910 (7 nines)
concat(8+1,9+0),(9,9) (9 nines)

Horray! 9,999 using 9 nines!
