Oh okay, I thought you had that version already.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I downloaded it but did not install until now.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
Of course that result can be rigorously obtained, but who cares?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

It takes up a lot more space than I thought it would, over 100 MB I think, even though the set-up is just over 30 MB.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Do you have the memory for that?

We are talking about memory here not HD space?

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Oh, sorry. 2 GB RAM, I think that is enough for Maxima.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Hi;

It does calculus, high precision calculations, solves equations, solves ordinary DE's, does summation...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Looks like I have an offline substitute for W|A, that is good...

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Yes, I suggest go through the help manuals you will see that it has a huge capability.

taylor(sin(x),x,0,10)

Try that.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Wow, that is pretty good. I tried it for terms up to x^99 and it was a lot faster than I expected.

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

Yes, you can do taylor series and a whole lot more. Or:

partfrac((x+1)/((x-1)*(x-2)),x);

Re: Linear Interpolation FP1 Formula

I did not know it could do that...

Also, it doesn't give a strange answer for laplace(tan(t), t, s);, whereas W|A did.
