Yup, Ouais.  Ce l'ai fait.  It does.  Parfois de mon francais est mal.  Some of my French is incorrect.

Where did you learn it?

Re: weight lifting miracle today

80% of it I learned after high school courses of two years non-college prep level 2 French in Keene High.
But 80% of it I learned by reading mostly one big dictionarre I bought (achete) en Montreal.  Robert-Collins.
And other texts and bilingue novels, but primarily dictionaries with pronounciation keys.

Pretty good that you almost taught yourself.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Yes, and by remembering a lot of words like "pr^ete" (ready) and other words that Mrs Calvalaro taught us in high school helped me to learn the pronunciation key better, by comparing the written key with what she had said.  The preface forward with the words to help learn the sounds aren't always completely useful, not enough words used for most people to be sure of what they are learning for that sound.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

I took french in high school because my Dad did and he recommended it.
Then I took no German at WPI, the only language they taught besides English, and I took music instead.
Then I forgot about french during my marriage of 8 years.
Then when I moved to northern Vermont and northern NH, I travelled to Quebec for the fun of it and
to see what I could see, and it is mostly flatter than where I was living but the people were interesting!
And that's where the French studies increased immediately as they are necessary in 70% of Quebec at least.
Especially the smaller towns and small cities like Sherbrooke.

That is what I was thinking that you were Canada. I was up there around Niagara Falls but they spoke English there.

Yes Toronto and Ontario and Ottowa (capital) are all English.  Go East a bit and then it's French.  Go to New Brunswick east of Maine and it is 60% English again.

Yes, I heard that. It was nice when I was there but now I hear mixed news about it.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Very interesting.  I spent my childhood in the six states of New England without exception until about age 20 or 23 I visited NY City for twenty minutes, drove thru and waved to a guy while I was playing a cassette tape of Shania Twain I bought in Quebec City.  Wait, I guess I was more like 28 then in NYC that time.  The first time in NYC was when I was married and we bought a new Subaru and we drove to Penn and NJ and back thru NYC at nite to get home to New England.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Nope, I thought of driving there to see 9/11 but I decided to stay where I was.  I cried though by a stream and went back to work only for a few minutes to pick up my work gloves and tell them I was going home, which was Berlin NH at the time.

Thanks but I only became aware of it through someone else going through the lists of the fatalities and then telling me.

I see.  Off le sujet, uh, I'm going outside for fresh air (plein air) and finish shovelling.  Later today I hope to continue my decision to visit a dance whose contributions help a baby born weeks early.  I have danced there many a time.
