I do not know the extent of it. I only know I miss him.

You undoubtedly used the methods of ordinary algebra but there are many numerical ways to get the answer too.

I have to go cook, see you all later. Have a good day at school.

Will you cook in Angela Style or Gangnam Style?

I know two ordinary algebra methods and one numerical method and also the CAS way and also the graphical way and also a brute force way, Newton Raphson, Midpoint attack if they count

There are many ways to solve equations numerically. The interesting one here is doing x_0=... x_n=3+1/x_n-1. It can even be done on a scientific calculator.

What use is the quadratic formula in our daily lives? Can we use it to unlock the secrets in the hearts of those we love?

bobbym style.

You can solve that also by converting to a continued fraction.

It is an idea your countryman was an expert on.

follow so far?

Yes, the rest I can do

Is that correct? Now what?

That is it, you understand the idea. To compute the answer what would you do?

I would convert it back to a quadratic equation and use the quadratic formula.

I've always changed those continued things into a quadratic and then solved it, never tried the other way round

Supposing you left out that end 1 / x what would you get?

Yes, and I have kaboobled it.

we leave out the x not the 1 / x so we compute

To one of the roots of your equation of course.

Can you do that one or need me to?

The process is pretty much what I described in #80.

That is the same process. There are many iterative methods too.

Those are methods that have names and use geometric ideas. They are very popular in books written by people whom never solved anything other than a book problem.

Did we cover any of Forman's ideas for iteration?
