Re: What do you think?

New Problem:

I predict 10^40 posts all with answers to this one.

On another forum the question of finding the smallest n for

came up. Can you find any n quickly and then the smallest one?

A says) No solutions!

B says) That is incorrect you can find a solution almost by inspection and then using some simple computational moves the smallest one. The answers are ...

C says) Stop gibbering B! A has spoken! Your solutions are obviously false.

B says) Even if they work?!

D says) Of course, math by reasoning and logical thought will always smash you computational boys.

E says) You prefer your theories to hard evidence?

A says) This ain't physics E. Math is an axiomatic system and I know them axioms better than you or B.

B says) Math started with the integers and counting them. Computation is more fundamental.

C says) Glad to know there is no solution, thanks A.

A says) Your welcome.

Can you prove B right?

Re: What do you think?

Hi bobbym

Either the problem isn't well posed, or it's a simple one.

The trivial answer is never allowed.

Re: What do you think?

But it is the smallest one for which it is true.

Re: What do you think?

Hi;

Yes, but it is the trivial solution ( 1 or 0 ) and is never allowed because it lends no understanding to where the other solutions are. Please try again.
