She is only 19 and lives there with her b/f. Yes, I hope they are both okay.

It wants the Pythagorean theorem to determine the length in ft. and inches of that room.
Thank you.

Yes, the storms were tragic. I have a niece who lives near there, have not heard from her.

What is the diagonal is the diagonal of a rectangular room which measures 8ft. by 22 inches?
The length of the diagonal is ___ft. ___inches.
(Simplify your answer. Round to the nearest inch.)
Thank you.

Do you have storm houses where you are?

What is the b part of the answer. It is asking for b.
Thank you.

It's a different world, but I don't live in Ala. I have ancestors who did though.
I hope your day was good. Mine was worse on the highway than anything else. Too much traffic.

If positive integers are chosen for r and s, with r>s, then the following set of equations generates a Pythagorean triple (a, b, c).
a= r^2 - s^2   b= 2rs    c = r^2 + s^2
Use the values r =4 and s = 1 to generate a Pythagorean triple.
a=_____
Thank you.

The day is over now. I guess the rooster will crow at sunup. I live in a residential neighborhood, yet someone used to have roosters and one would crow about 4 every morning. Sounded so strange, yet neat, like when i was a kid. We had chickens and foxes too. There used to be a pet skunk who would come to the back door and eat with the cats every night. It was cool and he was so beautiful. He was okay till he must have been in a bad mood, then he would release the skunk cologne. smile
I have not heard that rooster in a long time. I hope he's okay.
I finished my essay for tomorrow. Worked about 10 problems tonight. Thought I would leave you one. smile

A hotel is in the shape of a cylinder, with a circular foundation. The circumference of the foundation is 4 times the radius, increased by 104.88 ft. Find the radius of the circular foundation. Use 3.14 as an approximation for ii (symbol for pie. you know like pie r ^)
The radius of the foundation is ___ft.
(Simplify your answer. Type an integer or decimal rounded to the nearest hundredth as needed.)

Thank you. I hope you have a good night. Back to school tomorrow. Have to go in earlier so I will be sleepy.

Yes, I do most things myself, but you think faster with math  so I ask for help. smile

Find the measure of the supplement of 77 degree angle.
The measure of the supplement of a 77* angle is ___*.
(Simplify your answer. Type and integer or a decimal.

Thank you and I hope your day was a good one.

Hello,
I worked on one problem an hour this morning and when i got the right answer, it was incredible. I have to work them out step by step and this is a big problem with deadlines.

#183 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 20:49:32

To be able to know math would be a gift i think. I have always had trouble with math, especially algebra. It has a beautiful language of its own though.

#184 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 20:19:23

Yes, I think you did mention that.
I guess i will sleep now; it is late.
ps For real I dreamed about math the other night. In the dream, money was not money, people paid with math symbols. I know that is crazy!!!!See ya tomorrow which is now today.

#185 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 20:15:05

It's exact! You are a genius with Math.
Thank you!
I hope this is not tiring you out.
What is the diagonal of a rectangular room which measures 8 feet by 22 feet?
The length of the diagonal is ___feet_____inches.
(Simplify your answer. Round to the nearest inch.)

#186 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 20:07:51

It says If m is an odd positive integer greater than 1 (that could be one of the numbers you need) then later it says "Use this (the problem) to find the Pythagorean triple generated when m= 15. (15 could be the other one you need?)
It's beautiful, the way you typed it out. Like art. The first m had a comma after it, before the problem began, yet it was part of it.

#187 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 19:56:24

There's an m, before the rest and it's laid out like division. The m^2 is at the top after the first m, but they are not together. I hope that makes sense. I have never seen one like this.

#188 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 19:34:09

Thank you.
Here is a complicated one. I hope i type it correctly.
If m is an odd positive integer greater than 1, then ( m^2 -1  m^2 + 1) is a Pythagorean triple.
                                                                          (m ____._____________
                                                                                  2               2
Use this to find the Pythagorean triple generated when m = 15.

The Pythagorean triple is (___,___,___)
(Simplify your answer. Use ascending order.)

Thank you! Did your movie turn out okay?
Given a right triangle with legs a and b, and hypotenuse c, find the missing side.
a = 14, b =48
c=_______
(simplify your answer, type as an integer or a decimal.)

you are in another state. She does not do boards at all. LOL

Solve:
A table top is shaped like a rectangle whose perimeter is 144 in. The length is 2 times as long as the width. Find the length and the width.
The length is__in.
The width is___in.

#192 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 17:43:40

No, she is an older woman. She is not the typical teacher in college for sure. I do not understand her at all, as far as professors go. She has a doctorate.

#193 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 17:16:40

It was an x rated movie, my instructor showed the class this morning, or half of one to be continued. I would not be surprised if someone didn't report her. It was certainly out of place for class with kids, some right out of high school.

Here's one about carpet: They are mixed up, it seems.
Suppose carpet for a 6 ft. by 14 ft. room costs $500. Find the cost to carpet a room 24 ft. by 56 ft.
The cost to carpet the room is $_____.

#194 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 15:45:05

They were both correct.
I'll edit this from making another post.

I am working on math and writing an argumentative essay tonight. It's kinda sorta interesting if you follow the news. I asked my instructor what she wanted to read, since she is different and doesn't like research/data types of papers. She's more into "different." I have not figured her out. This morning for class, she showed us an explicit movie that offended some. I don't know why she did that and even if it's allowed. One kid was about 18 and put his head down on the desk, so as not to watch it. I kinda felt sorry for him.

But anyway, she told me to write about someone in the apparel business who's being sued. The more I read about it to finish up the paper, the more I think the women are suing him only for money and not what they accused him of.

#195 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 15:29:25

Yes, it was correct too. I may have had this in high school, but not in college. I never thought of algebra with this.

Can you work this one without seeing the picture?
Find the measure of each angle.
13x + 4 + = ______.*
7x + 6 =____*
(* is degrees)
Edited to add, it's two right angles.

#197 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 15:09:27

it wants to know what the measure of the other angle is. Just subtract this one from 180*?

#198 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 14:54:58

Thank you.
Ya know this is kinda easy, bet it gets more challenging and the easy ones are first.

Two angles are supplementary. One is 30 degrees more than four times the other. Find the measures of the angles. (Supplementary angles are angles whose sum is 180*).
What is the measure of the smaller angle?
___degree sign.

#199 Re: Help Me ! » Algebra word problems » 2011-04-27 14:23:37

It sounds good. I have never seen it. No time for TV. I disconnected the cable when I went back to school a couple of yrs. ago. I had to concentrate. LOL

Want to try this one:
In triangle ABC, angles A and B have the same measure, while the measure of angle C is 9 degrees less than the measure of either. What are the measures of the three angles?
Angles A and B measure____degrees each.
Angle C measures ____degrees.
