I did a foolish thing. I have the entire summer off, so had time to think about connecting with someone.
there it goes again correcting my typing, the word is s u x at relationships.
drag was meant to be "I drag at relationships."
I should have known better, I am not stupid, yet I drag at relationships, or even dates for that matter.
In the romance arena.
Do you have neighbors? Or are they like mine, non existent? People are usually out for themselves.
Oh heck it has been a bad evening. I am crushed.
Hi survival;
Bobbym, you are a great teacher! Thank you!
It seems I may or may not be a great teacher, that is for history to decide. But obviously I am not a great conversationalist if you can wait a whole month between talking to me.
Bobbym, you made me smile for the first time today. As a moderator, all you had to do was send out mail, as I am still on the mailing list I think ,or subscribe to a topic, or whatever it is called.
Let's start again.
I am sorry to be negligent and far away, but summer break has made me lazy to an extent. You are an excellent conversationalist. Do not ever doubt that.
Just wanted to check in. I am still alive, and four more weeks to go till school resumes. I have gotten used to being off the summer. Too used to it, in fact.
Glad to see the forum is strong. I could not have survived Math without it in the Spring. Bobbym, you are a great teacher! Thank you!
I have to take one more math, maybe in the spring, so you will see me regularly at that time. Thank you again!
Hello, friends come in two different brackets, if you will. You have acquaintances, who you work or go to school with, or encounter in life. No connection outside of "must or have no choice." Then you have the real friends, who will stick to you through thick and thin, no matter what crazy life a person sometimes has, or wrong decisions made. I prefer my four friends from childhood, who still call and keep me updated until I can get home. Those four will be there when the dirt is tossed. Haven't let me down, yet and I have not let them down either.
Acquaintances are not friends, and it does make all the difference in any existence.
This is what prompted me to buy all apple. I am on an old pc this morning, but I prefer to avoid adding one cent to Bill Gates and the Microsoft that he stole. Steve Jobs did rather well, despite his "friend"s thievery.
Hi survival;
Rejection I could deal with. But stealing mine and putting his name on it I could not deal with. A certain famous "computer expert" made his reputation by stealing other peoples stuff. He went to work for a certain large, large, large software company.
That sounds like the one who stole microsoft from his supposedly "best friend."
Not you, me! I got bunches of them rejected.
Rejection is one step away from acceptance.
It's late so guess I will call it a day/night. I hope your day went well. Goodnight.
Hi;
You know what I hate? Books on math that only answer odd numbered exercises. Now what is that? Everybody knows all the really good problems are the even numbered ones. Authors, please answer the odd numbered, the even numbered, the prime numbered, the letter numbered, Catalan numbers numbered etc. Oh wait, the Roman numeral numbered too!
Here is a book, the problem I want is #25, so I am in luck. Guess what, he skipped over that one. Wait a minute, I have the revised edition. Surely the new edition will handle that problem. Nope, he changed it from #25 to #26, just so he could skip it. I had to do it myself, now is that right?
So where do we go from here? Leave out the even numbered pages?
I noticed that. The answers are in the back of the book, but only to odd numbered questions. Unless--it is an end of chapter quiz. Then you are in luck.
Yes, that was a long time ago. It was not fun, as a matter of fact it was drudgery.
I still do not know what you were being interviewed about.
I am sorry it was drudgery. I am bad at editing. I want to include editing as one of my courses in the fall. I will know what they are going to be on Wednesday. It's an all day thing there.
Hello on Sunday,
Interview about why I volunteer and receive no pay. Why I do it. I did tell him that one of my communication classes required you to volunteer a certain number of hours for the course credit, and the art museum "hired" me on the condition that I would not leave after the course was over. I stayed since it is active there on the nights I am there. I get to see the "other side" of life. How rich people live and even good people. I have learned a lot about people and their different traditions there. The last event had lots of food and they invite you to eat too. Many different varieties of people. Mostly rich.
So you are a writer too?
I am an okay writer, nothing over the top.
rejection, yes it would be rampant. I will have to grow a thicker skin, if possible.
Oh, the guy wanted to know why i volunteer without pay. What's the reasoning. I don't know where he's showing the interview.
Then, I am halfway there, because I love to write and cw is my major. I cannot imagine getting paid for something i enjoy. I have written newspaper articles and submitted them for free, just because I enjoyed writing them. I don't know if i mentioned it or not, but some guy came in the gallery the other day and asked if he could interview me, since I wasn't paid. I said sure. I have been before a camera before, but I was reading a prompt. Never been interviewed, unless job interview counts.
I am getting bored, for I prefer routine.
Well, it could also be self discipline. Did you know that math teachers speak a language of their own? A tutor once told me that, and I noticed it.
I never taught in classrooms. That is a little bit out of my league. I learned math and computers the hard way. Do not learn, do not eat, simple as that. Since I am very dense, I guess it was God's way of forcing some knowledge into a monkey brain.
Not dense at all. Explain how you learned Math the hard way. I think it is a gift, that people either get, or they do not. Born with it, or not.
Yes, problems like that and much tougher ones.
Algebra is not at all tough.
Not tough? It nearly drove me nuts!
I believe you said you were fond of statistics?
I like Combinatorics, Probability ( statistics ), Numerical Analysis and Number theory best.
You mean such as toss of the dice and how many tosses will it take to get a 9, etc.? That is one of the classes I finished. It was interesting. I did not understand Truth Tables though. You know T T F F and so on. I never caught onto that. After the first three rows, it was a bit confusing.
Are you still teaching?
I never taught in classrooms. That is a little bit out of my league. I learned math and computers the hard way. Do not learn, do not eat, simple as that. Since I am very dense, I guess it was God's way of forcing some knowledge into a monkey brain.
Well, you are teaching here too, helping those of us who have not a clue on some math. I never knew math forums existed until I was having such a rough time and googled it. That is how I landed here. I wish I had done that last semester when I had Algebra. It was terribly confusing. A lot more complicated than what I just completed.
Oh, it is late/early and I am still typing. I posted a blog on myspace. Have not been there in a very long time.
Now, we're getting somewhere. I can see it, which makes a difference.
You drew that exactly like one of my professors. He would draw the curve, mark the lines off, then go 3 dots on each side and go from there. Math instructors talk too fast, so sometimes you miss stuff. I do want to understand, and I have come far.
I asked before if you were a teacher or professor, and you replied that you taught your brother. It's just my observation/opinion, but you demonstrated that just like a professor would. Are you still teaching? I believe you said you were fond of statistics?
Thank you for explaining this so well. I never stop asking questions, sometimes it gets on people's nerves. That is why I did so well in journalism and interviewing people.
Thank you!
I am not that good with reading tables. I see the answer, and everything else on the table, but how do you know the 1 is to be subtracted? This is what I meant when I said that I didn't understand the "between." When they are not between then it is easier to arrive at the answer. Does this serve a purpose and if so what is it?
Hi survival;
If you require I will rework the problem and try to do as Mr. Kaboobly doo would.
Well, actually it was the online system that made the decision of answers. If you can work it to what the website wanted, then I would like to see how it arrived there. Thanks.
