Now have a JavaScript version of the Scientific Calculator

Please give it a thorough workout.

Also let me know any improvements (in function, format, color, etc) you can think of.

What would it take for this to be your go-to general calculator?

Thanks for the tests. I will look into a Deg/Rad switch.

#112 Re: Maths Is Fun - Suggestions and Comments » Dodecahedron » 2015-08-15 10:02:47

Solved it! I used a variable called "frames", which IE treats as a special windows property. Simply renamed it and it works.

Thanks for uncovering this bug.

Updated the Spinning Dodecahedron from Flash to JavaScript. Does it spin nicely for you? Can you use drag mode?

And if you have a mobile device of any sort could you test it on it?

Working on updating Flash to JavaScript (a very large project indeed).

Here is the new JavaScript version of the Math Trainer: Math Trainer - Addition

The old (but still good) Flash version: Math Trainer - Multiplication

You can make the "Addition" version work on Multiplication by clicking the "Multiply" tab at top.

What do you think of the JavaScript version?

I am working on a short video about Dimensions.

This is my script. Is it accurate? Does it convey the ideas well?

script wrote:

Hi! Let's learn about Dimensions

In Geometry we can have different dimensions.

Let us start with a point.

Can't see it? Well it has no size, so we will highlight it.

Now lets allow the point to move in one direction.

We get a line.

We need just one value to find a point on that line. So we have one dimension.

A line is one-dimensional.

Now lets allow the point to move in another direction. And we get a plane.

We need two values to find a point on that plane. So we have two dimensions. We call it 2D.

A 2D object is flat.

Circles, triangles, squares and more are two-dimensional.

We also call them plane shapes.

Now we let that point move in another completely different direction and we have three dimensions.

Spheres, cubes, cylinders and more are 3-dimensional.

We also call them solid shapes.

We can have more dimensions, but I can't draw them.

In Physics Time can be thought of as a dimension, but not in Geometry.

November 23rd => 1,1,2,3

(But the sequence actually starts at 0)

Leonardo Pisano Bogollo, as well as being famous for the Fibonacci Sequence, helped spread Hindu-Arabic Numerals through Europe in place of Roman Numerals.
