This is a pretty simple problem that my math teacher showed me a few years ago, but I thought it was funny

You're given the symbols IX. Using any one symbol what would you have to add to it to equal 6?
Here's a little background information on Roman Numerals in case you don't know much about them:
Roman Numerals
Roman numerals are written as combinations of the seven letters in the table below. The letters can be written as capital (XVI) or lower-case letters (xvi).
Roman Numerals
I = 1 C = 100
V = 5 D = 500
X = 10 M = 1000
L = 50
If smaller numbers follow larger numbers, the numbers are added. If a smaller number precedes a larger number, the smaller number is subtracted from the larger. For example:
* VIII = 5+3 = 8
* IX = 10-1 = 9
* XL = 50-10 = 40
* XC = 100-10 = 90
* MCMLXXXIV = 1000+(1000-100)+50+30+(5-1) = 1984

You are right, katecaroline, I did a few math units at University. Calculus, matrix algebra, stuff like that. But don't ask me anything TOO difficult, ok?
Lol don't worry I wont. My math knowledge does not inclute matrix algebra and such 
..or it doesn't yet anyway muahaha.

"MathsIsFun " just a quick question, are you a mathmatician? I have no idea of your age.. but judging from your other posts I've read it seems as if you have the knowledge of university math. Haha if you're only a teenager or something then congratulations on your insane brain ;P

Haha I had the weirdest dream ever, and since I've told them, my friends haven't let me live it down XP. I went to this little town that's a few hours away from me to visit a guy I was dating a while ago. Anyway the town was super weird with only like 5 houses. We went for a walk and traveled behind these two big hills where there was a beach with endless ocean. All of a sudden I was on a rock shouting "I've lost my oven mitt in the ocean!" Then we went back to his house because I was really upset and I woke up.
My friend and I tried to decipher my dream with these 'dream-cards' she has. (You know one of those christmas presents from your great aunt which you never use). Lol it didn't have anything about oven mitts though. Ah what a weird dream :S!

My exam was quite good thanks! Very long, but pretty easy. Only a graphing problem I think i totally messed up haha. Aw well it's only graphing. Anyway I had no idea I was pretty much the only other girl. lol that rocks! woo

Hello, I'm Kate.. I just joined the forum. Woo! It was kind of fluke that I found it because I was studying for my Math exam tomorrow and needed some pointers. Wish me luck! >.< Ah I hate finals.
