0 . 8
--------------------
5 | 4 . [40] 0 0
So I have now put an 8 up the top in the answer part of the division. Now there is no remainder and the other zeros
afterwards were really there just in case, and in this particular case they are not needed. So that is the answer to 4 / 5
ie. 0 . 8
No let me show you (I will use short division, but the long division of this amounts to the same thing as I could show you).
Right here goes:
--------------------
5 | 4 . 0 0 0
4 divided by 5 is 0 remainder 4 so: The 4 becomes a forty in the next bit of the number using a zero that I added ....
0
--------------------
5 | 4 . [40] 0 0
Now what is 40 divided by 5 ?
Are you able to do a division like 4 divided by 5 ?
Hello are you there ...
Ok steveb mandy here my next topic. Is ratio and proportion I know nothing about this at all can you show me how to do them please? I will be back on here at 2.00pm ok see you then so you have some time to sort something out ok?
Hi Mandy, I thought I would just make a little post here to say I am ready if you are to fire away on a Maths topic.
I have just spoken to Bob and he has said that the reason why he asked that question was mainly to establish that you do know
how to find that thread. He has also said that it would be a good idea for someone who has admin permissions to move this thread
to the "Help me" area and rename it to something that reflects what the thread actually is. Bob Bundy does not actually have the
necessary permissions to do that - he can delete posts because he is a moderator, but not move a thread and rename it.
Okay let's log off for now then.....
I think I should test you on a few more dividing by 10 questions like:
63 divided by 10 ?
7.8 divided by 10 ?
0.56 divided by 10 ?
I am glad a bought that one up. No that is not right the answer is 7.7 the difficult thing might be invent a general rule
like moving the decimal place one space to the left. Do you see what I mean?
hi steveb mandy here on i don't the final answerok? and who is shivamcoder3013 then just wondered?
The first one of those has [/math] at the start, but it should be just [math]. It has an "s" on the end of the one at the end.
The one at the end should be / not \ before math.
The second one has the [\math] with the slash the wrong way round. Try using the "edit" option.
The "preview" button can be used to check the post.
A good way to get the slashes the right way round would be to use the "Math" button at the right hand end of the
little rectangles underneath the window for the post.
Let me see:
The [/math] bit at the end had the slash going the other way. I have used \times instead of an x.
Yes that would be a better time.
I will not be able to do that at that time tomorrow. How about in the evening ?
