Hi Bobbym,

Good to meet you. I will give them a ring and see if they would like to join this forum too. Is anyone getting involved in World Maths Day this year on the 3rd March?

Nice to meet you!

I am always keen to chat to people who love maths as much as I do. I had a chat with someone last week who was telling me about their own new project aimed at raising the profile and enjoyment of numeracy in schools.

The project is based on using story telling to engage children in maths. Children are asked to help solve a mystery (ie the mystery of the missing cow Buttercup!) and they use maths to work out what has happened to Buttercup and discover some new characters along the way!  The children solve number problems in order to progress in the story.

This was new to me, but it sounded brilliant!

Hi there, I am EmilyW, an ex primary school teacher and big fan of teaching maths! I now work for a charity promoting numeracy skills in schools. I am always looking for interesting ways to engage children in maths - so if you have any ideas I would love to hear from you. EmilyW
