ic, i cant find the expected value for n=100 with my scientific calculator, can u gimme a hand? ty very much

#6 Re: Help Me ! » probability question help me » 2016-03-22 04:04:54

the general formula of the expected value in part b, u show a lot of summations in the formula, k is the total number of players, j is a dummy , how about n?

#7 Re: Help Me ! » probability question help me » 2016-03-21 17:23:06

k stands for the total no. of players , how about n?

I manage to finish this question ty

#11 Re: Help Me ! » closed-form expression » 2016-02-26 21:50:19

would you like to show me the steps for part b?

for part a, one of my friend told me dat
he used (a-b)^n as example, he expanded it and found summation from 0 to n, (-1)^i * nCi * a^(n-i) * b^i
when a = b = 1, it will look like the same as part a and will equal to 0 no matter n=0 or not

how do you think?

yeah i also get this ans in part a
but i dunno how to do part b after expanding nCi and iCm.
