OH! I should have thought of that, haha. Thank you.

I got everything on this lesson right except for one problem and I cannot for the life of me figure it out, help?

3. x^(6/4)

A 6/4x
B x^(2/3)
C 6x/4
D x^(2)
E x^(4/6)
F x^(3/2)

My first guess was D. I would like to understand how to do this sort of problem so if you could show your work that would be amazing smile Thanks

I will just ask my teacher about 12. Thank you for your time

#4 Re: Help Me ! » Factoring Polynomials of a Higher Degree » 2014-08-22 03:26:54

I noticed in 5 and 14 my error was that I did not factor the sum of squares resulting from the original sum of squares.

However, I'm still at a loss on 12.

Thanks! Also, I would like to know how you got your answers for 5, 12, and 14.

#6 Re: Help Me ! » Factoring Polynomials of a Higher Degree » 2014-08-22 01:24:28

Thank you, I had hoped I had figured that one out. Any idea on the others? Also, if you could tell me how to get the answer for the ones I have not figured out that would be great.

I would really appreciate if we could these worked out by tomorrow which is when my next Algebra class is smile

Hello, I submitted a lesson which was graded and I had six incorrect problems out of twenty that I need to revise for a grade so here they are:

1.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

D.
(this is my revised answer, my original answer was A.)

5.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

E.
(marked incorrect)

12.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

Not sure where to go from here. My original guess was A.

14.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

A.
(marked incorrect)

16.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

A.
(revised answer, my original answer was D.)

17.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

A.
(revised answer, my original answer was D.)

Any help on the incorrect ones and checking on the revised ones would be much appreciated smile

Okay so,

117.67 is the area of the whole thing so 117.67/9=13.074 would be the area of one triangle
13.074/2=6.537
A=bh/2
6.537=6b/2
6.537=3b
2.179=b
And then multiply 2.179(18)=39.222 because 2.179 is just half of the length of one side
So that gives me C!

Thank you guys so much big_smile

Yeah, thanks. I still need help on 7 though, I don't really understand how I'm getting the wrong answer.

#11 Re: Help Me ! » Geometry » 2014-04-08 05:24:51

Oops, that's not closer to B than A. Apologies, I read it wrong

#12 Re: Help Me ! » Geometry » 2014-04-08 05:22:12

7. I know B is incorrect, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to end up with C.

18. In the diagram shown, a 12-foot slide is attached to a swing set. The slide makes a 65 degree angle with the swing set. Which answer most closely represents the height of the top of the slide?

cos(65)=x/12
0.423=x/12
5.076=x

That's still closer to B than A, what am I doing wrong?

#13 Help Me ! » Geometry » 2014-04-08 03:49:20

I submitted my answers to my teacher through my online course and got 18/20 correct!
But I would like to have 20/20 correct so here are the ones I missed:

7. The apothem of a regular 9-sided figure is 6 feet and the area is 117.67 square feet. What is the perimeter of the regular 9-sided figure?

A 4.36 feet
B 19.61 feet
C 39.22 feet
D 54.00 feet

I did A=bh
117.67=b(6)
19.61=b
My answer was B and it was marked incorrect.

18. In the diagram shown, a 12-foot slide is attached to a swing set. The slide makes a 65 degree angle with the swing set. Which answer most closely represents the height of the top of the slide?

A 5.0 feet
B 5.6 feet
C 10.9 feet
D 25.7 feet

I didn't know how to do this one so I guessed B which was wrong

Thank you for the help! big_smile
