Hi

I got all the answers for the 1st set of problems excepting problem 12.  The answer i am getting is x = -2 and y = 1.

Can you please let me know where i am wrong.

-3x-2y=4
  x+7y=5 (multiply with 3)
=3x+21y=15 (cancel -3x and +3x)
19y = 19 (remains
y = 19/19
y = 1

x+7=5
x = 5-7
x = -2

Thanks so much

Hi

Stuck again..

An equation is y = mx + b where m is the slope ie. y1-y2/x1-x2.

How do i calculate 'b' without drawing n connecting the points?

Prakash - how do i put your formula to work?  Can you do 1 prob for me please?

Thanks

Hi

Appreciate if any of you guys could recommend a good book on Probability and Probability Distribution which is simple to understand.

I am doing my MBA and Quantitative Methods is one of the subjects.  If i can understand and be thorough with the two topics, it would help me immensely with many other related topics. They all boil down to probability big_smile

Im fm Hyderabad, India and authors from India would help immensely. Any net links would also help.

Thanks in advance

Hi everybody,

Im a newbie on this site and hope to stay on for quite a long time.  Lots to learn and lots of silly doubts.

To cut a long story short - I fear maths  sad  I am now trying to learn stuff all over again for it has now dawned on me that math is used in every area.

Doing my MBA and quantitative methods is one of the subjects - as of now can't get anything straight wink

Other than fearing math (my current vocation), i love reading - Sydney Sheldon is my fav. Music and gardening go hand in hand.  Love dogs - my pet is Tia.

Thanks and look forward to a meaningful stay out here and embracing the fact that "math is indeed fun"

Cheers
