Solve the logorithmic equation

log(8) x + log(8) (x-63) = 2

The correct answer is listed as 64.

I'm trying to learn and understand the correct way of coming down to that answer with out using a calculator. Thanks.

Condense the logorithmic expression as much as possible:

3 ln x -(1/3) ln y

The answer is ln x^3 / 3(radical)y

Can a process be provided as to how one gets to the answer? I think I see what is happening, but could use clarification.

x = e^6 -3

I did it on a calculator first then tried on my own and became very confused.

Maybe if I re-write it.

3^(x+7)=6

That trick makes a lot of sense, but, what about when one number cannot be the same? Like the 6 below:

3^x+7=6

I'm not sure. I think I don't understand.

Sometimes I get x = -1/3 so Im not sure whats the right way to do it. :-(
