12 is correct , very good! Welcome to the forum.

hypotenuse is 20 inches one of the legs are 16 inches what is the measure of the other leg. i got 12 but i dont think its right

What do you need?

2013-03-15 14:59:44

is there anyone who can help me like asap

Hi Gillian__Smartiee;

I have drawn your rectangle below, click on it to enlarge it. If my drawing is correct then to find AB you use the pythagorean theorem where c is AB.

Take the square root of both sides,

So AB = 1.4422205101 cm.

Do you know how to round that to the nearest hundredth?

2012-12-13 14:47:12

I don't know if I can explain my question properly but if someone understands please help!! Ok so the directions say Find the length of AB to the nearest hundredth centimeter.  All measurements are in centimeters, but figures may be drawn to different scales. Explain your reasoning.

The first problem is a rectangle  and it has a dotted line going from the bottom of the left corner (it has an A right next to it) to the top of the right corner ( it has a B right next to it). The bottom lenght of the rectangle measures 1.2 and the right side measures .8. The dotted line in the middle forms two triangle in the rectangle. Please someone help me!

Hi sarah123;

Is this a right triangle?

2012-08-13 11:23:00

okay so i have a triangle with a side of 230m and 150m, what is the missing length?

hi shebly

I have edited the post you refer to as you are quite correct; it was wrong mathematically.

But I have also removed your remarks as they were also unnecessarily rude.

i need help figuring out how to find the missing side of a right triangle with legs: a= 12, and b=9....?

So by following the formula given before:

a and b are the sides and c is the hypotenuse.

So you have sides a=12 and b=9.

im stupid
it took me forever to figure this out

help me to thanks

Hi Star1400000

Welcome to the forum!

I suppose that the trianglw you are talking about is a right triangle.

Do you know the Pythagorean theorem?

Wikipedia-Pythagorean Theorem

2012-04-29 10:51:45

What is the missing side length if a= 10 b= 24 and c= x
a. 26
b. 36
c. 40
d. Square root of 124
Please help, not sure what to do neutral dunno

Hi jackie21137;

Welcome but I am sorry his answer is correct and yours is not. You are not using the pythagorean theorem correctly.

Please be more careful and tactful in correcting previous posts.

use the pythagorean formula (a = b + c)
a= hypotonuse
b= side
c= side
26 = 10 + x
676 = 100 + x
x = 576
x = 24
