Thank you sooo much!!! It worked. I had an online assignment for my Calc class, and it was the problem that I got stuck on. You saved me!
I would say a lower order is simpler. But then again, simple is all in context. A more complex statement is simpler if it allows you to simplify a larger statement that it's in.
ln(z^4+z^2) = ln(z^2(z^2+1)) = ln(z^2) + ln(z^2+1) = 2 ln(z) + ln(z^2+1)
