Not true, a while back a new type of type of material was discovered or delivered that would superconduct at much higher temperatures. The race with not much success for a room temperature superconductor has been on ever since.

When substances get very cold the resistance decreases. As you approach absolute zero the resistance drops off to nothing. Current begins to flow in the substance by itself. This is called superconductivity. Follow?
