Are those the same as the other day?

Equation 3 alone will give you r most simply.  Just move the beta r term to the left and the b to nrhe right.  Then divide by beta.

To get e you'll have to use equations 1 and 2.

Substitute the a* from (2) into (1).

Get all the 'e' terms on one side and the others on the other side.

Factorize the 'e' and divide by the bracket to get e on its own.

I hope this picture is more clear:

There are 4 parameters. Alpha, Beta, Yamma and the Circle with the line through.
Then a, a*, b, b*, g, g*, r and e.

These are meanings behind the letters, but there are no other links between these variables apart from those in the equations.

The question is:

Derive an equation for 'r' which does NOT contain a*, e, or r. and
Derive an equation for 'e' which does NOT contain a*, e, or r.

This is the whole chapter completed if you guys can help me with this! I have an answer for 'e', which can hopefully be checked against one of your answers but for 'r', I keep going around in circles and getting r=r, 0=0 or some equivalent statement but no expression!
